Eidolons and learning languages

Rules Questions

They are smart enough to, so if you spent the skill points on linguistics, can they learn languages, even if only to understand what is being said?

I don't think there's any rule restricting eidolons from talking, unless you specifically design your critter to be unable to.

I think it was clarified during the playtest that the eidolon understands and speaks any and all languages the summoner does. Not sure about finding the post, though.

Thanks for the input but I'll keep waiting for an official answer (I hope).

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

The official answer is that the Eidolon knows every language its Summoner does. This was posted by Jason, the lead designer, during the playtest.

There's also the fact that there is absolutely no text anywhere that even hints that Eidolons are prohibited from speaking or prohibited from taking ranks in Linguistics.

Exactly this.

You define how your eidolon will come out when you summon them, and as of right now there is no "vocal cords" evolution so you can just say that they have them when you summon them.
