Energy Resistance question

Rules Questions

Shadow Lodge

Been looking around for a bit and haven't found anything about this question so here goes!

I'm playing a 1/2 Janni and they get Fire Resist 10. My question is whether or not his gear/clothing would also benefit from the resistance? The logical part of my brain says "No ya moron!", but the rest of it says "Might be possible!". So I figured I'd ask my fellow gamers and see what you all think!

I'm really not sure what you mean. Rules for items "burning" are a thing of second edition, and I haven't seem them anywhere.

But, going back to topic I would allow it, or half of it, cause the rules state that items get a save equal to it's wielder when needed, so I think, this would aply too.

THe short answer is yes. If you are immune or resistant to something then anything you wear or hold uses your game stats for the most part. Most objects only have special rules if they are unattended or if they are specifically targeted such as with sunder or warp wood spells and the like.

For simplicity's sake, I would say yes, it does protect your gear.

In any case, the question becomes moot much of the time as your gear is immune to area attacks anyways unless you (1) roll a natural 1 on your saving throw, or (2) it is specifically targeted by the effect.

I don't believe the rules clarify either way whether natural energy resistance protects your gear (though resistance from a spell most certainly does).

+1

About the most complicated I would get is "If it's gear or a spell, it protects everything. If it's a class ability, depends on the type, but probably everything. If it's a natural property of your race, it doesn't protect the gear."

Unless you roll a Natural 1 on a Reflex save. Which sucks.
