I know, you can name her FAWTL. No one will have that name!

OK bad idea.

Congratulations Mothman!!!

Ok to catch up.

Walking Dead is a good series in my mind. Yes it is a bit dark but given the situation understandable. It picks up with good group dynamic.

Spoiler:
as a plus it has Norman Reedus from Boondock Saints fame in it.

Congrats Mothman on the little one. May you get sleep in the near future.

Shiny glad to hear you enjoyed your turkey day. oh yeah qit rubbing it in ;P

The Exchange

Oh yes, Walking dead, very good. Although I can no longer watch it with the wife after last weeks episode.

The Exchange

Almost an hour with no post, must rectify.

Posting for continuity. ;)

Thanks, again, for the advice, all. I'll be brave.

Also, heard a good quote from my daughter's drumming instructor:
"Percussion is the language of time." I'm definitely using that in the future. I'm not sure exactly HOW I'll use it, yet, but I will use it.

w00ty-w00t! Big congrats to Mothy and Mrs. Mothy!

Mmmm... candied bacon. I'm very tempted, but scared to make it; this just might be the Cholesterol & Diabetic Singularity all in one. On the other hand, it is powerful enough it could even make Freehold DM's heart grow three sizes. :)

Truly an OMG moment, there! I thought I was joking. However, according to my wife, someone has actually created bacon-flavored soda, so I shouldn't be surprised.

As for FHDM, candied bacon may cause his heart to grow three sizes, but then it might explode. ;)

Rant:
I'm confused and dismayed by the idiocy of some of the so-called targeted advertising that pops up on my FB pages. I don't care how pretty they are...I am not excited by the fact that girls half my age might be entering my name in people search engines. Nothing good can come of that.

I don't mind that they use information from my pages to offer me other info or products. Frankly, it can sometimes be useful. What I don't like is the "Who is Searching for You?" ads.

Seriously...If Facebook's marketing assistance team or whatever they have can't gather the information they need from my relationship status (which clearly states "Married to [another Facebook user]", then they shouldn't be mining my profile for any other data, either.

Congrats Mothman!!!

By the way, is anyone watching "The Walking Dead" on AMC?

I was very excited about the series and set up my DVR to record it. I started watching the first episode on Wednesday evening, but didn't get very far into it before turning it off. I got the usual, "zombies creep me out" vibe, but the show was kind of slow and depressing.

Does it get better or should I delete the recorded episodes?

I watched all three episodes over the holiday weekend (nothing like family friendly holiday entertainment) and I enjoyed them. So far the series has borrowed heavily from other zombie movies (think 28 weeks later) and other post-apocalyptic flicks (think Mad Max). Despite not being original or groundbreaking, it has still held my interest to date. I give it a provisional thumbs up.

I just saw Skyline.... Not as crap as I thought it was going to be... If you think of it as a CthulhuTech movie..

Yeah. That does look interesting, and somewhat inspiring. I've been wanting to do some writing in a near-future/sci-fi horror genre. Need to do some thinking on that.

I think my problem with "The Walking Dead" is that the zombie apocalypse is such a nihilistic vision that I can only handle it in small doses. A 90-minute movie with a small victory is fine, but a prolonged series seems too daunting. Still, I'll get around to watching them, just not sure when.

I know. I have a good friend who just can't watch the series due to his depression. Some scenes in the series are just too much. It's still good TV, though.

The Exchange

They are rebooting the Buffy the Vampire franchise as a new movie. They also fired Joss Whedon who will have nothing to do with the movie.

Is it one of those FB ads you can X out? If you can, you won't see that one again and I think it asks you why. You can say you're not interested in that type of ad and they will take that into account in the future. Worth a try.

But...that would be constructive and might reduce the number of things about which I can complain. Oh...wait. ;)

Thanks for the advice, CH. I'll have to look into that the next time I see it. The only reason I'm complaining about it today is that I accidentally clicked on the link and the resulting pop-up got my attention.

This is a great day.

I heard they were rebooting the original Buffy movie, not the series. So most, if not all, of the Whedon-created material won't be "re-imagined"/used. And Whedon probably just "costs too much" in movie exec think.

So, HA! {opens secret bookcase door to reveal hidden Whedon shrine, leaves bowl of tasty Captain Crunch as offering}

I don't know. It has a different feel around here lately. Might just be me, but this was always the thread where we just came to shoot the shit. Hang out and talk about nothing, or everything.

Now it seems like.... I don't know.... like every other OTD thread.

Unfortunately, it is in OTD, where the politics and trolls seem to live now. Folks with low bullshit tolerance stopped coming anywhere but OTD, but now it's full too, so... folks are avoiding the Paizo boards altogether, I think. Sad state of affairs. But yeah, feels funereal around here lately. :(

I guess I just miss when things were busy. I miss some of the older posters who are never around, and miss logging on and being able to talk to them.

But its late too, and the sleepiness could just be making me a bit emo.

Well, I'm still here. :)

Sporadically, I'll grant you, but the semester from hell is almost over and I should have a more normal schedule going forward.
Went to see Harry Potter movie tonight. It was pretty good. Some odd bits and I hated the shaky cam, but overall a good adaptation of the book. I hate waiting for part 2 though.

I am around and lurking here. My lack of job or anything to do has made me a bit emo. So instead of spreading it I keep to myself. How you doing Solnes?
