Hello all. I'm very new to the 3.Xe version of the game (we did Rise of the Runelords under a different system altogether, but are going all Pathfinder all the time for Kingmaker), so apologies if this is obvious; I have run a search on the boards, but I've not found an exact answer yet, and the majority of the questions seem to be from before the core book was published, so I thought I'd put out a fresh query.
Anyway, the core book states that a monk's BAB with Flurry of Blows is equal to their level, then all the standard two-weapon fighting modifiers get applied, so a first level monk ends up with -1/-1. That's fine, I understand that bit.
My question is do other standard modifiers apply to this special BAB as normal? So would I add my monk's Strength bonus, the bonus from a masterwork weapon, and so on?
I think it probably does, but I wanted to check with someone who has played the game for more than two sessions!
Thanks, and again, many apologies if this has been well known for years.

Thanks both. I hadn't even considered the number of attacks; I was just wondering about the chance to hit. In the two sessions we've played so far, I've not been calculating it properly, so I will be prepared this week!
Thanks again!
Sure thing. A quick rule of thumb for this kind of thing is to look at what it says it modifies. It tells you it modifies the base attack bonus for flurry of blows, so the number for base attack bonus goes up, but all your other bonuses are unaffected and get added in just as they would for any other attack.

The answer is...kinda.
You apply all modifiers as normal, but it modifies your attack bonus, not base attack bonus. So it helps you hit, but doesn't give you more attacks.
Nope. It does indeed. But only while flurrying. If they hit level 6 or level 11, they get a new iterative attack while flurrying, whereas they only get new "normal" iteratives at 8 and 15.
So, you just add your Str mod, your masterwork weapon mod, your attack bonuses (morale, competence, sacred, luck), etc. etc. to the numbers presented in the flurry category of the monk level up. Everything should straighten out indeed.

Well, yeah, the flurry BAB change adds extra attacks. What I was getting at is that the bonus from Str, MW weapons, and whatnot doesn't add extra attacks, because it's not base attack bonus, it's other modifiers to attack bonus.

Yeah, that makes sense, and you're right. I have an ability to look at anything and see the absolute worst option before considering it could be anything else and I tend to act on that impulse against my best interests.
So, what they said!

I have to admit, I'm still not sure why they didn't just change the Monk's BaB to +1, as for anything important the monk does, it effectively is +1 instead of +3/4.
Full attacking? Use Flurry, more attacks with a better chance to hit!
As of 3rd level, your CMB treats your monk levels your BaB
Let's see, your CMD and when doing a move & attack are the only times your Monk BaB is actually used.
Wait.. monks are better at tripping each other than they are at tripping fighters and barbarians? O.o

Monk AC bonus (both from wisdom and the static one) adds to CMD.

... and when determining hit points.
... and when qualifying for feats.... and when qualifying for prestige classes.
... and when making single attacks (such as with vital strike).
... and so on.
