Linguistics Question

Rules Questions

If I understand the skill correctly, you get your automatic language (your mother tongue), your bonus languages (ones based on your Int modifier) and then one language per rank in Linguistics.

Then it says : Learn a Language: Whenever you put a rank into this skill, you learn to speak and read a new language. p. 101

So my question is, if a rogue takes the linguistics skill, do they automatically gain the ability to read/write all their languages ie mother tongue, bonus languages and ones gained through linguistics, or does each level of linguistics only impart 1 read and written language?

Thanks for the help everyone. New to the system and trying to figure out all the ins and outs.

I'm confused as to what your question is.

When you put a rank in Linguistics, you add one language to known languages. You can now read, write, understand, and speak that language as well as you can your "mother tongue."

Unless you have a non-core flaw such as the Unearted Arcana Flaw Illiterate, you can read and write all the languages you know, no linguistics skill required.

Ahh ok... I didn't realize everyone started with the ability to read/write their starting languages. I thought that was something that came with linguistics only. Thanks for clearing this up for me.

Cheers cowboy.
