What would you say the requirements would be to make a weapon (staff, dagger) that was used as a spell focus and gave it's enhancement bonus to ranged touch attack rolls for spells cast while wielding it?

Or made one that allowed you to channel touch spells (of third level or lower) through it?

Liberty's Edge

For the first I'd say same as a weapon UNLESS it also worked with spells that did ability damage, in which case I'd say something along the lines of double (because 1d6+5 damage to each mental stat from touch of idiocy, for example, is MUCH more brutal).

For the second.. I actually have a homebrew feat on my website that accomplishes that. In enchantment form.. probably worth about the same as spell-storing. Like spell-storing, a spell and an attack occur as one action. Unlike spell-storing you cannot have a spell prepped from a previous day, and you can't do a full-round attack and unleash it on the lucky hit.

I would just say if you haven't already to checkout the spectral hand spell level 2 wiz/sorc

which gives a +2 bonus to touch attacks and lets you make them at range.

should give you an idea of power/cost balence

So about (3*2*2000)^2 = 144,000,000 gold? For a 2nd level spell, cast at third level times 2000 squared for being continuous?

It doesn't seem right... the effect itself wouldn't be giving you the +2 and it wouldn't be changing the range of touch spells to ranged touch spells...

I would say it is just a +1 modifier for the weapon?

I would say use the regular pricing for weapons but only apply enhancement bonuses to the "focus" item (ie, no special abilities like speed or flaming). Also, prohibit it from adding its enhancement bonus to damage and I think you're golden.

Edit: For clarification.
