Quarterstaff and Weapon Finesse

Rules Questions

I wanted to make a rogue acrobat that used a quarterstaff and I was browsing through the rules. When using the quarterstaff as a double weapon, you use it as if you were fighting with a one handed weapon and a light weapon. Does that mean that only the off-hand end of your weapon gets the benefit of weapon finesse? It certainly seems that way but it seems a bit stupid. My DM will no doubt allow me to use it the other way but I just wanted to be sure.

Pretty certain that because it is a 2-handed weapon you simply can't use weapon finesse with it, even in use as a double weapon. In fact I'm pretty sure that every double weapon has this issue and would unless the item description calls it out to work.

Its a double weapon not light. The off-hand is considered light for the purposes of the penalties for TWF.

I would like to play with your DM.I imagine playing a halfing with 8 str 20 Dex using a orc double axe with weapon finesse and adding Dex mod in both edges :S . LOL

Yes, dealing a whopping 1d6-1 damage on each hit.

My DM will probably allow me to use weapon finesse with the quarterstaff because it's comparable with using two short swords (and is probably worse). I'm only looking into this for flavor reasons and not to try and abuse the exotic double weapons.

I dont care about dmg i'm a halfing who uses a double axe with such a grace and finesse that i make Zoro look like a barbarian with a greataxe...
