There is now just one meeting that needs to take place before we announce dates. Unless something unexpected comes up at that meeting, look for us to make an announcement in the Paizo blog at the end of this week.
And dates for PaizoCon UK 2011 have just been announced (16th-17th July) if anybody wants to attend that too :)

I would so love to say yes to that!
Tell you what, if you come over I'll give you free accommodation for the con!

If you're looking for relatively easy walking in/around Birmingham we have a lot of canals having been an industrial revolution heartland... Some of them actually get quite picturesque in places too. :D
Since you specifically mentioned backpacking I'll give a hout out to 'Birmingham Central Backpackers', a hostel close to Birmingham city centre, which is pretty cheap - I think we've had some attendees to PaizoCon UK staying there this past year, and haven't had any complaints (as far as I know) about it. Of course given the global economic situation, it's difficult to predict whether some businesses will be open still in six months time, let alone a year and a half. (There was a major coach/bus travel firm in south Wales which went bankrupt last week, I believe. :-? )

Yeah it's Friday! Sigh - no paizocon announcement :(

Wait Friday isn't over yet. maybe there is still a chance. Hope renewsEdit: On the other hand, maybe they rolled a 1 at the meeting and now we have to wait until next week.
I'd imagine most of the Paizo guys and gals may not even be awake yet, it's still early over there on the west coast. :P

Decisions, decisions. Paizocon - most likely on sometime. Or Comicon in San Diego - definitely on when my kids are on winter school holidays. One con has a publicised date, the other doesn't. And lots of people where I work have "real" lives and bid for vacation six months or more ahead of time. Just sayin'...

We made the announcement on Friday....

Vic and co., will there be fewer Dinner tickets than Con admission tickets again this year or will the Dinner be larger this year?
As long as we're at the Coast, the dinner will be limited to the same number of seats due to the size of the banquet room. (It's probably the number one factor that will cause us to move on from the Coast at some point.)

Does that mean I can go to an every 10 minutes refresh rate? ;)
Not if you want the best seats, tickets signed by the entire Paizo staff(past, present *and* future), and a candlelight dinner at Seattle's finest restaurant with your favorite Paizonian!

** spoiler omitted **
I split the difference with a 7.5 and I have lovely lovely etickets in my account. Now to work on the banquet ones.

The only size issue I saw was when a hundred or so PFS players decended on the free continental breakfast just minutes before the games were to at 8. In fact my only complaint about the Coast Bellevue at all was the service in their lounge. Other than that, top marks all around.

Actually, I thought they handled that incredibly well also.
Putting out the extra pot of coffee, and finding paper cups so we could take it with us to our games earns them extra super customer service points in my book!

The restaurant staff were a friendly staff, but they were not equipped for the swarm of gamers that descended like the plague.
It is a small restaurant, with good food, so just remember to plan appropriately for the rush times.
Fortunately there are several restaurants within walking distance, both fast food and traditional service, as well as a Whole food market cata-corner from the hotel. No one had to go hungry to a game.

Yes, they could definitely use a 2nd bartender! LOL
But totally agree that the Coast staff handled us very well considering the size of the hotel and the number of gamers. Loved the iced water pitchers in every game room - that was a really nice addition for a 5-hour game session.
I would love to see the Con get bigger and turn into an even grander event! I'm hoping more of my players and fellow GM's show up next year - San Diego represent!
Make mine Paizo!
