Going overseas

Customer Service

First, everything great everyone says about Paizo goes here.

I will be going overseas for a year and need to find out what is the policy for international shipping, so I can decide between that and cancellation.

I also need to know how I cancel subscriptions if I decide that's the best policy.

Thank you kindly.

To cancel, either post here with your request or call Paizo customer service directly.

Define overseas.

I can tell you how it works if you get stuff shipped to Germany (should be about the same for most parts of Europe, at least in regards to shipping costs, I can't comment on the speed or quality of their local postal agencies):

My subscriptions are sent with the standard delivery method. This usually takes 2-3 weeks to arrive - sometimes, it's faster, and sometimes, it takes longer. I had stuff be here in barely two weeks, but I also (very, very rarely) waited more than a month for stuff. The official statement is "9-36 days"

A usual monthly shipping (One AP as well as some chronicles/campaign setting book and a companion, maybe a novel) will cost around 15 dollars (sometimes a bit less, sometimes a bit more), but if stuff gets big (like it did this month with the massive Game Mastery Guide), it can get close to twice as much (mainly because it wouldn't fit into one package any more because of the weight)

Larger shipments (especially if you have stuff other than books in it) can also attract the attention of customs, and you might have to pay import turnover tax.

To me, this usually happens when order miniatures, or when it's a big shipment I had them ship with a faster shipping option because the price difference wasn't that big.

The only thing I can add to the excellent answers above is this:

A great to figure out what the shipping on your subscription shipments will be is to build a dummy order and go through the checkout process. Put your upcoming address into the shipping address, or at least as much as you know currently, such as the city, state/province, and the country (it should be mostly accurate). If you use an older product within the subscription (Flip Mat for Flip Mat and Map Pack for Map Pack, of course), the weights should be close enough to that for the upcoming products to give you a pretty good estimate.

Also remember, for the GameMastery Maps subscription, this tidbit:

...each subscription shipment will give you a discount of 20% off the MSRP of that month’s map product, and subscribers may also order any previously released Flip-Mat or Map Pack (excluding backorders) at 15% off the cover price!

So if you do decide to cancel, then resubscribe upon your return, you will only be giving up 5% of your discount (assuming, of course, that you pickup any released items).

Just keep me up-to-date with what you want to do. :)

Thanks,
cos
