The way Pathfinder is written it is not terrible and awful if you die. You pay a penalty of money and go on. That makes high level play plausible. It used to be if you died you lost a lot of stuff that meant you could not fight encounters the way you used to fight. If you died a few times, you could not fight the encounters you fought, and now have to fight encounters more your new lower level. Pathfinder has softened the blow of dying and made high level more reasonable.
Pathfinder has made higher level mods, encounters and the like, reasonable to play because it has made the spell Breath of Life. With Breath of Life you can die and still be brought back to the fight. To make higher level characters even more reasonable, there needs to be a spell much like Breath of Life, but even higher level that has range. There also is a need for spells such as Breath of Life that brings back characters killed by death effects and at range too. Of course, these are higher level than Breath of Life.
High level mods, or encounters, are much more lethal; however, the higher level characters are much more lethal in themselves. Deaths come more often to players. I believe Pathfinder has found a way that softens the blow and penalty of dying. That makes high level play more reasonable, and I hope Paizo makes higher level mods for Pathfinder Society. I also hope that Paizo makes high level mods not just for Pathfinder Society, but to all and even to twentieth level and higher. More books on high level and epic level play with the spells mentioned above, even epic level mods.
It is almost as if I wish to get signature's to show Paizo's hierarchy there is a demand for high level play. I'm just putting this thought out there, everyone can post what they want to post. I played high level Living Greyhawk. I miss the high level play when they used to go up to sixteenth level. It was originally eighteenth level but it was lowered. I unfortunately, did not play at eighteenth, but I wish I did. I’ve played a lot of Pathfinder Society, and I for one wish for higher level Pathfinder Society mods.
