Is it possible for a person with the shadow evocation/shadow conjuration line of spells to incorporate metamagic into the duplicated spells without first having the metamagic feat?

For example, shadow evocation allows me to duplicate a 4th-level spell. does that mean I could choose hit an undead shadow with a fake maximized magic missile?

I ask because the party shadowdancer's shadow companion is making things truly difficult for me as a GM.

They will soon face a fey sorcerer and I am looking for ways to keep the end encounter from being anti-climatic. If I can remove the shadow quickly, then I can keep the encounter from ending too soon. The player shouldn't mind too much either as his shadow has seen a lot of action already and this encounter is the last his character will see (the one shot adventure will end at that point).

The duplicated 4th level spell is the *effect* of the Shadow Evocation spell - in all ways your caster is still casting Shadow Evocation.

A wizard would have to prep a maximized Shadow Evocation - if that's possible (I don't feel like looking up the rules right now for specifics).

A sorcerer would have to spontaneously cast a maximized shadow evocation (same disclaimer on me being too lazy to look up specifics).
