Hi,
I've just started playing (usually DM) in a new PF game run by a DM who is more use to Vampire and Call of Cthulhu. For context my Bard is (using the 15 pt buy generation system - hope I got it right);
1/2-Elf Bard
STR 10
DEX 13
CON 12
INT 13
WIS 12
CHA 16 (+2 race went here)
Skills (+1 for favoured class);
Bluff, Diplomacy, Disguise, Knowledge (local), Knowledge (nobility), Preception, Perform (flute), Sense Motive.
Feat;
Extra Performance
Spells;
0 level
Lulluby
Mending
Summon Instrument
?
1st level
Cure Light Wounds
either Comprehend Languages or Silent Image or Ventriloquism (???)
Any suggestions on the choice of my second 1st level spell.
Thanks in advance,
S.

I recomend Silent Image. Its versitility makes it a very powerful level 1 spell. Comprehend languages is better off as a scroll or potion, its a very situational spell. Ventriloquism is even more situatuional, and sometimes can be faked with skill checks(my dm lets me use skills like speak languages to throw my voice)

Silent Image, Grease (mostly for granting +10 to avoid grapple, but the tripping and disarming aspect is also very good) or Sleep (especially since you have lullaby). Personally, I would not take cure light unless there is no cleric.
For the undecided lv0, I'd recommend ghost sound, which can be used creatively. Ditch lullaby unless you take sleep as a lv1 spell.
Oh, and flute goes under the "Wind Instrument" skill, meaning you can play the flute, the trumpet, the pipes, the ocarina, the harmonica, the bassoon, the tuba, the <insert any other wind instrument here> equally well.
Have fun with your bard, and remember to take your freebie skill focus, I recommend putting it in a perform skill that you will use for versatile performer. (Wind, which covers flute gives you Diplomacy and Handle Animal) Things to keep in mind here is to look for skills that use your poorer ability scores, to make the most out this ability as versatile performer uses your higher charisma stat instead.
