Pathfinder DM Screen

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Hi guys,

I'm new to DMing and for my upcoming Pathfinder game I am looking to update my current 4th Edition DM screen to Pathfinder by just sticking a few post-it notes on my side fo the screen with general information on (status conditions like shaken etc.) and was wondering if anybody could let me know any really handy tables or information i might need from a DMs point of view?

I am aware there is a Pathfinder DM Screen available and i may order that instead if the game takes off and I am DMing for long enough, but this is as a short term solution.

Thanks.

See if this one works for you.

Has anyone checked the 4e p43 or so from the DMG?

it includes a table with the DC for skill checks based on how hard are they to beat for a character of any lv.

Example:

I.e Your rouge decides to open a random lock you did not stat.

The lock is some old stuff in a peaceful village. It would perhaps be level 1 or 2, 'easy, lock. So there will be a DC for that.

The lock is locking the treasure vault in the city of evil in country Doom.
Level 20 or more, 'epic' difficulty. You check on the table what's the DC for that.

Has anyone checked if those DC are appropriate for pathfinder?
What other information would you put in your own DM screen?
Personnaly, I'd put
-The DR table (+3 equals cold iron or adamantite? Arg can't ever remember).
-The equipment, weapons and armor table for common merchants.
-Stated NPC tables of the common places from the 3.5 DMG.

-Maybe The guidelines to create magic items or treasure tables for quick reference.
-Maybe A table with saving throws tables progression (for casual groups who forget the formula) when you level up.

I use the PF official DM screen and really like it. I've printed out a few charts that I tape onto the screen (top of the paper only, so I can still flip the paper up and read whats below). My personal modifications are: Table 8-2 Actions in combat on PF p183. This tells you what type of action it is an if it provokes an Atk of Op. This is a full page table and I cover the misc tables of the screen (XP chart, treasure, object hardness/break). Remeber to only tape the top so you can still reference the below materials. I also made a chart for Cover and Concealment that I place over the fly and wind effects (I hardly ever use those but could see a need at higher level campaigns). I also hand write in perm marker modifiers to the skills that are not included on the charts

hope that helps

This is great, thanks for sharing. Where were you six months ago when I was stumbling through all these stats :)

The PF Screen is a beast!

It is the thickest stock I have EVER seen a screen printed on!
It is four panel deflector shield for Judges!
I love mine.

[Contains 2 full panels of skills modifiers, 2 panel of Combat and 1 panel of Misc]

If you buy the PF screen, make sure the tables in the back are right-side-up. Mine were upside down compared to the front graphic. Other than that, it is a great reference and sturdy as all get-out. Supplemental tables are always necessary, though.

That's a wacky printer error I hadn't heard of before... I saw a Core Rulebook like that, but not a GM Screen.

My FGS owner took it back and he said that he'll get a replacement for me as soon as the second printing is out.

The second printing arrived at the end of February, and we still have plenty in stock. He should have no problems getting it from his distributor.

Could you guys, or please Mr. Wertz since that information must be easily available for him, the police (style and size) of the letters used in the DM guide?

I just want to match my own personal tables with the DM Screen =).

Actually, the typeface info would be a fun and traditional thing to add to the colophon page of the books. I'm something of a typography buff myself so it's fun to know what a typeface is exactly.

Ok, good to know. I'll ask him about it this weekend.
