Can we hope for message board enhancements? There are many things that I, and users in general, are used to that are simply absent from these boards. I cannot fathom why - so I suppose a good reason must exist. These would include:
- Private messaging
- External image linking
- Tabular mark-up tags for making use of tables
- And since this is a board populated by pbps, it might be worthwhile to investigate the possibility of a grid display that can be used for encounters
Thanks :)

I spend good amounts of time on the board while at work, so I could do without embedded images, since I'd instantly have to stop coming here for eight hours in the day.
Other than that, +1... although I'd really love to see the Quote feature altered to be more legible as a higher priority item than any of the ones mentioned by LK. Multiple quotes in one block just looks so bad, it's impossible to tell who said what.

Private Messaging is on the to-do list, but there are quite a few things above it.
Inlining external images is not in the cards anytime soon, as we think it makes discussion boards harder to read and more unpleasant to look at. It's also easily abused. *Linking* to offsite images is fine, though.
Overall, we haven't had that many requests for tabular markup, though I would say that those infrequent requests are coming a bit faster than they used to. We'll probably add it to the to-do list at some point here...
A grid for PBP would be complicated, and frankly, far from the ideal solution to the problem anyway. We do have some ideas towards that front, but nothing specific to say at this point.

Thanks Vic - and Tordek too. :)

"Email me when additional posts on this thread are made" option.
Although an RSS feeder would work, I'd prefer such functionality to be part of the site design.

We're not super keen on the notion that somebody posting the word "smurf" to our boards could automatically generate dozens (or even hundreds) of e-mails letting everybody know about it.

I imagine the filtering functions on the board handle that well enough - but I am quite keen on keeping track of several threads without having to store links or leave the thread open.
And for pbps it would be a godsend.
That's exactly what the RSS feeds are for. Just click the little RSS picture and it'll add that thread to your feed you no longer have to store links or leave threads open ... and when you want to reply you just click the link in the reader and *bam* you're there in your browser. It's a great little part of the site.

And hopefully there will always be a few things above it. There's a new-fangled invention called e-mail that serves the same purpose very nicely :)
Besides, I cannot possibly imagine how you'd keep the Paizo staff from getting completely overwhemed by PMs with questions, because, of course, everyone knows that they're an exception to the rule that you shouldn't use PMs to ask the staff questions.

Disable PMs to staff members.

E-mail me.
There's the beauty of it - I can't unless you want me to.
And yes, there's no way for you to give me your email without everyone seeing it - but so what? I know of at least a half-dozen other places on the internet where people can privately message each other (not including email), so why turn the Paizo boards into another Facebook or Yahoo Groups?
I'm hoping that Paizo won't waste time reinventing the wheel when there's already a whole pile of other mechanisms out there for private messages.
