Where do we select how we want our names to appear on the badges?

(I'm asking because I normally go by my middle name, a common practice here in the South).

Can I also request that board names/avatars be added to badges? I don't recall if they were included last year or not...

They were not.

They were not.

Couple of things....

I agree that board names should be added. I did that for the first year, but for some reason they were not last year. (I just grabbed a sharpie and wrote mine on....)

Second, the avatar images could not be added because many of our avatars are NOT Paizo property, so reprinting old WotC images violated whatever agreement. I tried to put avatar images on badges the first year, but was told the above.

Your badge will be printed with your real name. If you're not sure what paizo thinks your real name is, please go to your My Personal Settings page and update it. If you'd like to go by your middle name, just put it into the First Name field. However, keep in mind that we'll checking IDs when you claim your badge, so while putting in your middle name should work (as long as its on your drivers license somewhere), I wouldn't advise trying to get a badge that reads 'McLovin'.

If you want your avatar name on your badge, please go to your My E-Tickets page and click 'Customize your badge' next to your PaizoCon ticket. As long as your real name and avatar name are different, you'll be given the option to have your avatar name printed on your badge.

Will this be in addition to our real names, or in place of them?

In addition. For instance, if you opted in, the badge would read 'Mark Moreland, aka yoda8myhead'. If you don't opt in, it will just say 'Mark Moreland'.

What if it says: "You have no customizing options available at this time."?

Awesome. Will it include avatars, or should I bring my life-sized cat-head mask?

It will not. As Timitus mentioned, we'd love to do that, but copyright restrictions on a lot of the old avatars prevent us from doing so.

So...yeah...bring the mask.

It says that if your default avatar name and your full name are the same, as it would be silly to have a badge that says 'Hugo Solis, aka Hugo Solis'.

Oh. I was trying to put Hugo Solis aka Butterfrog :(

Can you change your default to Butterfrog for a couple of weeks till after the con?

Just a possible option I think

If I change it in my personal settings, will that affect my billing? I don't want to have charges denied due nonmatching names. If that's the case I could just do what I did last year and have a nametag handwritten.

Liberty's Edge

Just make sure you have an ID when you show up for the Con that identifies you legally as "Butterfrog", and you'll be golden. :)

In all serious, a better solution would be to change your avatar name to "Butterfrog" and then make it your default avatar. After the Con you can always change it back.

It shouldn't affect your billing. (The name used for billing is the one you provide when you set the billing address for a particular card.)

Or you could temporarily change your 'real' name to Butterfrog. You would still get by the ID check since your real name would still be on the badge.

Regarding the checking ID bit ... what if you are bringing a teenage son or daughter? Mine does not have his drivers license yet and I don't think he has any kind of picture ID.

So long as you don't try to claim that your son's name is James Jacobs, I think we'll trust you.

This is a nice addition. Now I'll know who I'm really talking to. ;)

What if your son is a 7' tall ogre and you claim his name is Jason Bulmahn?

Then they'd know that you're lying. Everyone knows Jason Bulmahn is 8' tall. :)

Can individuals print up the pictures or is that too close to the line?

I look forward to the cat-mask though. Wonder if I could get a horn to stay on my nose... :)

If you ever need an ID in the future for your kid, you can go to the local DPS/DMV and get a state picture ID. A school ID also works at most places.

The 'Customize Your Badge' page has been updated. It now shows an example badge, and allow attendees to enter a custom alias to more easily allow folks like Hugo to get the proper badge without needing to mangle their messageboard settings, or for heavy Pathfinder Society players to have their character name on their badge without needing to change their default alias.
