Anyone Thought of Re-Imagining Old Modules?

One of the coolest things Paizo did w/ Dungeon was bringing some old adventures back to life. I loved the Bargle stuff they did and the Lost City prequel. Among my friends, the only real D&D was AD&D stuff, but I was a fan of the OD&D modules and it's great seeing that I wasn't alone in that affection.

One of my favorite modules is Master of the Desert Nomads. As sort of a give-back to the community here, I thought it'd be interesting to share my work as I create a PF version of this old classic. This may not be the most appropriate thread to do so, however. But, if there's any interest, I'd be happy to share my progress as I work on this.

Great idea, but this should probably go in the "Conversions" subforum.

No problem, but I don't have much interest in a straight conversion. Part of the appeal of these old modules is that they're something of a half-blank slate, with which to invest any additional details you desire. It'll be fun overlaying the PF ruleset on top of all that.

I'm currently working (sort of halfheartedly) on updating, re-imagining, and converting B3 - Palace of the Silver Princess. I'm also pondering taking on the old Judges' Guild adventure Tegel Manor. In the past I took on N1 - Cult of the Reptile God.

Is this what you are talking about?

I played in a Dark Sun campaign for 2 1/2 years where the DM updated every single published module on the fly with a mixture of Dungeon/Dragon magazine updates and Athas.org updates, culminating in the unpublished Draegoth Ascending. It was the best campaign I ever played in, hands down.

This inspired me to do the same with Ravenloft, with the Grand Conjunction adventures, including character creation via tarokka reading. I plan on running that once I finish running the game I am at the moment.

I have a compilation book that contains B1-B9 of the original Basic D&D set and worked out the modifications for my group. They were such well written modules that I couldn't bear letting them go unused when we switched up to 3.0.

Silver Crusade

Ohh, yeah. I'm willing to rework stat blocks, replace retired monsters with thematic equivalents, and then adjust CRs. Change a few names, and your group will never realize they've spent the past six levels in the Grand Duchy of Karameikos.

Tegal Manor! Awesome!

That room with the paintings... first time we played... TPK! Dang paintings!

I'd love to see some updates to Tegal Manor and the Master of the Desert Nomads! Great adventures!

EDIT>>> HAD to do it! Found Tegal Manor on RPGNow seriously EVERYONE needs to die in that manor at least once!

Anyone considering conveting the old AD&D Desert of Desolation series?

These were one of my faves back in the day.

I'm slowing working through a complete conversion of Temple of Elemental Evil. Still may favorite module ever (followed closely by running the original "Tomb of Horrors." Never, anywhere else, have a I seen a group not be able to make it out of the first room lol...)

Classic Dungeons Revisited?

I'm actually starting a campaign this weekend that's nothing but converted 1st ed modules I had lying around the house.

Keep on the Borderlands B2
The 3rd and 4th in the Slavers series A3 and A4
Expedition to the Barrier Peaks S2
Against the Giants G1, G2 and G3
Drow series D1/2 and D3
Queen of the Demonweb Pits Q1

The hardest part was coming up with a meta plot to link them all.
