Paizo Con 2010 Open Gaming

PaizoCon General Discussion

Howdy folks!

Since there will likely be a lot more open gaming going on at Paizo Con this year, I thought I would post the details of the open gaming area.

The Maple room on the first floor is our designated open gaming area. It will have four round tables that, I believe, can sit up to 10 people. The Maple room will be open 24-hours a day from noon on Friday through Sunday evening. However folks wish to facilitate getting space in that room is up to them (since it's open) but I'd like to make a few recommendations:

1) Use this thread to setup and schedule open-gaming events.

2) Grab tables in 5-hour slots. Here are the slots I would recommend:

Friday
12p-5p
6p-11p
11p-4a

Saturday
8a-1p
1p-6p
7p-12a
12a-5a

Sunday
8a-1p
1p-6p
6p-11p (this slot is a toss-up; the rooms may be closed)

In addition, keep in mind that there are several public spaces throughout the hotel including the main lobby, the north lobby (the main entrance for Paizo Con), and the courtyard that can be used for open gaming, though please do not use the courtyard after 10p or before 9a so we don't get noise complaints. You can also game in the bar/restaurant and, of course, in your hotel rooms.

Should be plenty of space for all of your open-gaming needs. :-)

Is there anywhere to play Friday before noon?

Liberty's Edge

I imagine that Paizo has only reserved the space starting at Noon on Friday. The best place before that would in your individual hotel room, I'd imagine. Unless a large enough group wants to get together and see about renting the maple room on Thursday and Friday morning.

Rooms, open areas of the hotel, the bar/lounge, the courtyard--those are all options before noon.

Actually, are there any formal plans for Slot-0s for volunteer DMs? Should we just plan them here? I'm pretty sure I'd want to do 1-2 of them Thursday night/Friday morning if possible.

Seconded.

I leave that to the GMs to determine. :-)

Well, who wants to get together some Slot 0's for Thursday night and Friday morning? If we get enough DMs we might be able to get a table or two going.

I made a thread here for posting slot 0 availability for volunteer DMs or even others that want to join as well for pre-con gaming. Priority will go to volunteer DMs though.

I would like a Saturday 7-12 pm for a 0e game. I can take 4 players (bringing 2 w/ me). Bring lots of imagination, your brain, dice and a mini, and of course a sense of humor. No spot checks here...you need to think and ask a lot of questions. For rules, I am using Swords and Wizardry basic rules (free download at http://www.swordsandwizardry.com/ ).

We will roll pcs on the spot (takes about 5 minutes, uses 3d6 straight up). Old school wilderness travel and dungeon crawl is basic theme. This is a thinking persons adventure, with character level 1 toons.

Keep in mind, I wrote Rappan Athuk, so it will be dangerous, at times unfair and harrowing, and you will not be able to beat all the monsters.

Put me down for that one if you please, I was hoping someone not attending the dinner would have a game up. And here comes the FrogGod himself to save me from an evening of boredom. Dying isn't boring, that much is certain.

Edit: Unless of course you mean 7 am to 12 noon... Then, I have a conflict with Chris Mortika's game.

Sounds fun, once my character dies can I take over one of the red shirt henchmen? If so, sign me up :)

If there was interest, I'd be willing to GM the 1:00pm-6:00pm slot on Friday with an adventure I've been working on.
Would be 4-6 players max, level 12, 3.5 rules. we can do Pathfinder or pre-pathfinder rules, either will work.
If anyone is interested, let me know.
FYI, I'm flying in to WA early Friday morning, and expect to be to the hotel around noonish, but this time might have to be a little flexible should there be any travel delays.

Scarab Sages

I am looking to run a game of either #33 Assault on the Kingdom of the Impossible (1-5) or #35 Voice in the Void (1-7), on Saturday evening 7-12p if anyone is interested.
I am available for suggestions as well from any group that is looking for a game at that time.

Looking forward to meeting the gaming society up in Seattle.

Ok, so i think the Pathfinder Society feared I would kill too many PCs (just kidding Josh). I am not running at least 1 of my society games; so I am freed up to run soem old fashioned 0e. Likely two games. Dates and times soon.
