i am building a straight sorcerer for a party of optimisers consisting of
TWF ranger,
Falchion master fighter
Cleric/fist of raziel
Falchion intimidate/shatter defences orc rogue.
I was leaning towards a human (+2 any score, extra feat) elf +2 to spell pen plus bow) or gnome (+2 cha ,+1 illusion
normally i focus on b/c, buffing and no save debuffs.
For this build though i'd actually prefer to be as versatile as possible but with a focus on Save or die and blasting and necromancy.
I've considered fey bloodline but have settled on arcane (for the free metamagic and extra spells and extra dc on metamagicked spells. i'll take the familiar option as well.
We allow two flaws. 3.5 allowed. I'm thinking about the following
1- Spellcasting Prodigy, Combat casting, Empower Spell, H- Force of personality (use CHA for will save)
3- Scuplt spell
5- Craft Wand
7- Bonus: Spl fcs:Evoc or Illusion or Enchantment, Metamagic School Fcs
9- Gtr Spell Fcs
11- Quicken Spell
13- Residual Metamagic
15-School Power (+2 Evocation, Illusion or Enchantment), Metamagic Vigor
17- Spell Penetration
19-Bonus feat, Extra Spell
The idea is to cast either empowerd, scuplted blast spells (+1 for metamagic,+2 Gtr Spell focus, maybe +2 for spell power, +1 if gnome, if metamagic vigor used another+1) for a total of +6 or +7 on an empowered and (maybe) scuplted spell- Metamagic focus lets me use just 1spell level to empower 3/day and residual metamagic lets me repeat those spells using a regular slot.
A Couple of issues though
1. Would this high a dc be worth it to make evocation the specialisation or would illusion be better? i know illusion is more flexible but damaging spells to little enough damage as is, i'd be loathe to reduce it further...
2. Normally i love SOD but most are in enchantment school which i don't mind but i'm a high DC kinda guy- besides phantasmal killer and wierd i can't think of many illusion SOD and the're not particularly good.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Well seeing as your allowed to take 3.5 spells and feats, I wouldn't worry too much about spell penetration as you can just take the auto-win 4th level divination spell Assay Resistance and that should easily cover you in that department (it's in the spell compendium.)
What kind of stats are you looking at having? Point buy? Dice? Some other weird method?
Sculpt spell is incredible but you might want to pick up Energy Substitution:Acid and eventually Energy Admixture. Not a huge amount of resistance to Acid out there. Heck, you'll be surprised at what a Sculpted, Empowered Fireball is capable of.
Given your party makeup you might want to fill in some gaps with spells like knock, improved invisibility and (greater) teleport. If you did go gnome you could get a lot of millage out of that Shadowcraft Mage PrC from the Races of Stone. That'd turn you into one heck of a nasty illusionist. Pick up Heighten Spell and Earthen Spell (or whatever it was called) and you'll have access to any evocation or summoning (calling) spell you need at a very decent DC.
