Which would be better for a player, chronicles or companion sub? I really don't under stand what they actually contain.
Chronicles is lore and setting info on a large scale and companion looks into smaller snipits for players?
Can some one explain. I just ordered my rule book and some dice, and I also just ordered some 4e books i am going to try both and see which I like.
So far as i can tell i am having an easier time sifting through the 4E books to find what I want.
So if some one could explain to me the differences between Chronicles and companion subs, i would appreciate it.

The Companion subscription!
Chronicles is setting info for GMs.
Companion is setting info for Players.
Adventure Path is installments of adventures for GMs.
Does that give you what you need, Clayton?

You pretty much answered it with that line.
Chronicles are background info mainly designed for use by GM's although could be useful for players.
Companions are background info mainly designed for use by Players although are useful for GM's. They also contain new items, new feats, new classes and other nice info.

I am very obsessive compulsive about things, and with things like this were there are a lot of back issues it drives me crazy, I want them all.
How essential would you say these products are to the game?
Companions come out bimonthly.
Chronicles come our irregularly, so you won't be able to plan the cost long-term.
How important is the world-setting to you? Do you have any Golarion products currently?

You and me both, I just learned of Pathfinder 2 months ago and I now own every book.
How essential would you say these products are to the game?
Not 100% essential, I would say far more essential for GM's than players but definitely good to have, and they add some nice options and info.

While I know you were looking for setting info as a player. But if you were planning on getting all the back issues of the Companions, then you might want to consider also subscribing to the Adventure Path line, if only for the fact that it gives you a 15% discount on all Paizo products from their store as well as being 30% off cover price for the AP. It could be a temporary thing for one or two issues while you backorder products, or you might like it and keep it for longer.
Most likely your DM won't be running the current AP, and you won't hit spoilers from it. There's also a good amount of articles at the end of each AP, however it's pretty much 100% DM related material.
