So in protest at the redundancy of the Evoker and sick to death of Summoners (the wizard variety) and 'God' wizards i'm trying to optimize a blaster.
Allowed resources are PFCore, Completes, ToB, XPH.
I'm 6th lvl and gone Wizard 3(Evoker)/Master Specialist 3. Planning on taking MS to 10, then maybe Archmage?
I've taken the feats: Precocious Apprentice, Spell Focus (Evocation), Craft Wondrous Item. Planning on taking (Gtr)Spell Penetration.
Next lvl i get Gtr Spell Focus for free as a MS.
So...any ideas on maximising the damage output from my AoE spells? Feats, ACF's, Magic items?

One word: Metamagicrodsofempower. Quicken too. If you're trying to do the AoE thing then shape spell, i think thats what its called, is necessary. Evoker is solid, though I probably would have gone dragon sorcerer.
Get a familiar that can grip a wand and crank UMD, that way they can throw another magic missile or fireball or scorching ray every round.

From complete arcane: sudden maximize. Also you should at one point take meta magic school focus, and empower spell. As the poster above noted, its good to have metamagic rods, but then for what wizard is this not good?
You will want to maximize and empower spells.

If available then definitely head into Archmage as soon as possible. The energy-swapping ability is almost a necessity so as to maximize damage and avoid hitting targets with energy attacks they are resistant to. And the ability to put 'holes' in your area spells so that you can pick and choose who gets affected keeps your options open as far as what spells to cast and when; you don't want to be blasting your party members while attaching the enemy.
For area effect spells the sculpt spell metamagic feat in complete arcane is pretty nifty. For one spell level you can change the 'shape' of an area spell. For some smaller area spells this can make it much bigger, essentially working as a widen effect (or better!) for only one spell level. Getting it put onto a rod is probably best.
definitely get metamagic school focus.
