Raise / Resurrect formerly undead

Rules Questions

Are there specific rules for raising or resurrecting a PC/NPC that went through the following process?

1- was alive.
2- got killed.
3- was animated as a Zombie, Ghoul, Ghast etc.
4- was destroyed, and again a lifeless lump.

Can Raise dead or Resurrect be cast on them, so they are alive again, and able to continue as a PC/NPC?

Just curious,

Raise dead, no (at least, that's how I interpret it), but resurection specifically says that it can.

Used to be able (2.0) to use resurrect on mummies....

and fight them as evil 11th level fighters (as I recall)

But PF does not allow that option.......

It was a fun method of dealing with undead.

Some undead in Pathfinder are susceptible to resurrection type effects; it'll say so in their stat block. It's not an intrinsic ability of the spell, though.

Considering just the emotional trauma of being an undead and then alive again makes me wonder how that would affect someone's personality. It would be interesting to see this roleplayed. Heck, this could be an idea for a Pathfinder novel!

Being a mindless undead doesn't effect the personality at all since the *person* has no idea what you are doing with their body while they are dead.. and you are probably better off keeping them from knowing that Bob the Fighter was Bob the Zombie for a couple of days.

Mindless undead are mindless.
