I was playing some Pathfinder Society today. Someone there showed me a Cheliax book I hadn't seen before. There was a weapon table at the end which had new stats for the Falcata. Basically it was identical to a long sword, with 1d8 damage and 19-20x20 criticals and is now a martial weapon.
I can understand the desire to nerf the weapon since it was mechanically the best one handed weapon. The nail that sticks up gets hammered down,I know. However why make identical to a long sword? Why waste the ink and even list it? It is possible that the price was different, but then everyone will just buy the cheaper of the two and be done with it. I mean they could have just put in an errata saying the falcata is now just a longsword flavor.
Even more odd was right above it was an Aldori Dueling Sword which had stats identical to the old falcata with 1d8 damage and 19-20x3 criticals. Actually I think it was even in the martial weapon section as well.
I suppose it could have been a typo with the two items with transposed stats. If not, I really am confused since why nerf the falcata if you turn around and offer the same 'broken' stats on a weapon anyway?

Falcata 18 gp 1d8 19-20/x3 4 lbs slashing.
Edit it may have been in the armory book, which had messed up charts. The above is the correct and Official stats

Aldori Dueling sword 20 gp 1d8 19-20/x2 3 lbs. S
These are the PFS legal stats, not the ones listed by your friend, the book was misprinted.

OK, good to hear it hadn't changed. I have heard it is going to be nerfed, but I suppose we shall see.
