Ideas about Iobaria

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Has it ever been established what the major language/s of Iobaria is/are? I know it was founded by Ulfen explorers, but if I were to include a Iobarian NPC, or include the player option of hailing from Iobaria, has it been set in stone what Iobarians speak, and whether or not they'd be considered Ulfen still, or something else? I'm not just looking for any official word on this - for those that have included Iobaria or Iobarian PCs/NPCs in their game, how have you gone about it?

It was settled by Ulfen at one point like you said, so Skald could be an appropriate language. Most of the languages in Brevoy and the nearby northlands (such as Hallit) would probably be appropriate there too, with more of a focus on the ones the Issians use than the ones the Rostlanders do (given that the first Issians were from an Iobarian colony). Given the number of giants in Iobaria, I could see someone from there knowing giant also. I don't recall a set-in-stone reference for Iobarian language yet, though.

I'll also note that a gazateer of Iobaria is coming out in the next Kingmaker issue, so you might want to use that for more information.

Cool, cool - I wasn't aware that a gazetteer of Iobaria was coming so soon! That should aptly answer most of my questions. :)
