Horse animal companion errata?

Rules Questions

Scarab Sages

This has probably been asked before, but I can't seem to find a thread on it. The horse animal companion is statted in the book as having a bite that does 1d4 and hooves that do 1d6. This seems a bit backwards since most bites normally do the higher damage, and the horse in the bestiary has hooves that do 1d4 (the pony animal companion seems correct with 1d3 hooves).

Has this been shown as errata at some point, or is it intended?

I think it's intended. A regular heavy horse deals 1d6 damage with its hooves and 1d4 damage with its bite. A horse is an exception, and while its bite hurts quite a lot, it can easily kill a man by stomping it.

In my group there is a player that grew up raising horses. He has claimed a few times before that a horse bite is an attack instinct and bite can take a large chunk of flesh out while a kick or stomp is a self defense action used to discourage an attacker or prelude to fleeing.

Doh, I didn't even notice that bit about heavy horses at the bottom. DERP. Nevermind! :D

Scarab Sages

Mmm... check the bestiary page 177

Under the horse entry, in the text area, is a section bolded Heavy Horse:

A heavy horse gains, among other things, a bite attack of 1d4 and an increase in hoof damage to 1d6.

So your animal companion is a heavy horse :D
