Would an animal companion need 3 into to gain the Vital Strike feat since it is not on the list?
The character I am asking about is a Pathfinder Society character so i would like it to be legal. Posting here first since I was unsure about the "no rules questions" in the society board
The rules for AC say, "Animal companions can select other feats, although they are unable to utilize some feats (such as Martial Weapon Proficiency)."
So you should be OK.
If you want to be 100% - increase INT to 3 on the AC at level 4. Then this rule kicks in, "Animal companions with an Intelligence of 3 or higher can select any feat they are physically capable of using."
Raising your AC's Int to 3 is a good idea anyways.

k. thanks! I have a mwangi druid. Plan to have a T-Rex at level 7 with Power attack, Improved Natural Attack and Cleave.
One note, Does power attack on a Powerful Bite grant -1/ +4 since it is double strength bonus?
Not officially.
It probably should, but the rules don't say it does, and although we observe the correlation between Str bonus multiplier and Power Attack ratio - the rules never acknowledge this correlation.
Which means when special abilities and feats allow non-standard STR bonus multipliers (like the "double slice" feat for example), then Power Attack doesn't change with it.

And to that end, my druid's Dire Weasel has an int of 3, Imp. Grapple and Greater Grapple.
This helps because Paizo wont print the Dire Weasel, so we threw out the con drain rule and just kinda went from there.
Oh, and yes, the Dire Weasel advanced to size large, per the size advancement rules.
If i can take a Tiger that can do it, i can take a Dire Weasel that can do the same.
