Other then adding a bunch of monsters, will this add any other functionality to Pathfinder in herolabs that is worth spending $15?

Kind of what i was thinking, i have herolab and its great but to spend another 15$ for 300 monsters im not to sure about, but on the other hand being able to export them to d20pro and if it uses the rules from the back of the bestiary and calculates all the stuff for creating your own monsters would be awesome.

The new package just adds the Bestiary monsters - it's most useful for GMs who want to use Hero Lab to build their own encounters. You can also export them to d20pro, as mentioned above.
If you're a Pathfinder player and you don't have any use for 300 new monsters, this probably isn't a package you'll be interested in - in that case, you can just keep using the Pathfinder files as before. But I know a number of GMs were clamoring for this addon a few months ago, so this package is targeted at them. :)

I am a GM, I just want to make sure with this new package I can build my own monster based on the rules in the Bestiary, will this package allow that?

To answer this point - you can use Hero Lab's editor to create new races very easily. You can pick the creature type and number of hit dice, and everything related is calculated for you - skill ranks, class skills, base attack bonus, etc. Then you just go in and add movement modes (like fly, climb, burrow), natural attacks, ability score modifiers, automatic feats, innate skill ranks etc to customize the monster.
There's a full tutorial included with the Pathfinder data files that guides you through implementing a race from the Bestiary, so check that out if you're curious how that works.

The monster creation stuff in Hero Lab (see my previous reply for details) doesn't require the new package - the package just adds the prebuilt monsters from the Bestiary in a convenient, easy to use way.
If you want to make your own, you can just go into the editor and start creating them, whether you have this package or not.

All the abilities and feats have been added to I assume? Or where added before?

Yes. If it's an ability or feat utilized within the Bestiary or the Bonus Bestiary, it's fully implemented and available for use. Just add the ability/feat to a creature of your own design and everything should work smoothly. If you want an ability or feat that isn't in the book, you can also create it within the Editor - all the existing ones are readily available as examples to adapt from. There are also tutorials covering all this within the documentation.

BTW, Can this be used to add class levels to monsters?

I also think this is the first step toward monster builder functionality, which is what we're all a droolin' after! *runs off to buy*
May I ask what sort of capabilities you mean by a "Monster Builder"? You can currently build all of the races in the Bestiary with Hero Lab's editor, setting up all their stats and capabilities. What sort of improvements are you interested in seeing?

I would like to see it calculate the CR based off of what you create instead of having to manually input a CR, or better yet you put in a CR and it giving you set parameters for HD,AC,high, low attack, saves and the other goodies from table 1-1 monster statistics by CR
but it is pretty nice, i just started inputing some data on new monsters i will be using in a campaign im working on.

Good idea. The most feasible implementation along these lines would probably be to add a new tab (only visible if you select an optional rule) that displays the character's stats in relation to those tables. It would require a bit of flipping back and forth between the editor and main window as you adjust things and take a look at the effects, but that information could be used to help refine where a creature belongs in the CR structure. I'll put this on my list of possibilities to explore.

My question is around the tactical console. Are all of the monsters available there, so I can just click to add several creatures quickly to the console and just run a combat from there?
Thanks in advance!

Yes. From the portfolio menu within the tactical console (or the main Hero Lab window), you can use the "Import Stock Hero" option to pull in any number of creatures.

I hate doing this here, but I don't seem to have permission to post on Hero Lab website, so hoping those that use the product here, or from over there get a chance to see this.
In regards to the tactical combat console, how are you using this during your game? Say you are running an Adventure Path, do you have all the encounters entered ahead of time, like say per room? Or do you enter this on the fly?
Just curious as I'm trying to figure this out and get a good approach to doing this quickly during a game.
Thanks again!

We've tried to make either approach workable - if all the monsters you're using are out of the Bestiary, you can use the stoack portfolios mechanism to just import them. If you'd rather take the time to organize them into their own portfolios before things start, that will probably save you a little time once you're into the game, since you won't have to grab the Goblins from "Miscellaneous Monsters E-H" and their Worg mounts from "Miscellaneous Monsters U-Z" - you'll have put them all into a single portfolio for that encounter.
(If you're using monsters that aren't in the Bestiary, you will have to set those up beforehand). (The post after yours is offering all the Second Darkness monsters, it looks like, so that's a time savings if that's the path you're running).

I want to be able to design monsters according to a build process and in the same interface in which I can currently design PCs. I don't want to use the editor, I want the same sort of guided process that character generation provides. As a designer, this will save me oodles of time.
FYI I went into this in some detail earlier in this thread. Heading to bed or I'd dig up the link for you.

I agree with this. I think the current Hero's Lab Editor is overly to complicated, And I am very disappointed with it. The Editor needs to be simplified and have an easily guided through process.

oops - I meant in this thread over here.
The key thing is that for PCs, Hero Labs is the rules lawyer, keeping you honest and all your math clean. I want the same thing for both for building monsters from scratch and advancing existing monsters.
