Just a quick question
do you think it unbalanced to allow any caster to choose to be a memorize or spontaneous caster ?
e.g. use the wiz spell progression, required memorise, can learn new spells etc etc on a sorc
and vice versa
Basically pick the caster class you want to play and then pick if what type of caster you want to be ?
Keep in mind, you must inherit the entire caster rules for the class not the best parts.
e.g. a wiz taking sorc progression gets 2nd level spells at level 4, has more casts per day but only knows limited number of spells etc etc

This begs the question, why not play sorcerer? So you can be a sorcerer with wizard class features?
Seems like the wizard class with sorcerer casting would be considerably weaker than a straight sorcerer because you miss out on bonus spells from the. I would have to think on this a bit but I'm inclined to say that it wouldn't be broken but wouldn't lead to a good character.

If you look at the various classes they all have different progressions. The bard gets more spells known than the sorcerer but fewer spells per day. The Cleric knows ALL spells while the wizard is limited to a set of spells they learn. All these things come in to play with regards to balance.
Seems like it would probably be ok but I would want to take it on a case-by-case basis.
