Yikes, sorry to hear it. Well, you can have some nice relaxing bloodletting now!

Sorry to hear that Yucale

Fubar:
As you turn on your left pass the bend, the crevice widens to about 15 feet wide and the ice walls give way to a dark grey stone. About 40 feet from you and oblivious to your presence sits a large white humanoid shape. A low moan escape its lips as he cradles a similar being in his arms. From what you've seen before, this must be what an adult yeti looks like.

M orc Paladin / 1

Going ahead and using Dectect evil......

After that I will try to get Ahz to notice the same thing, should be easy since he is about 5 feet behind me.....

Fubar wrote:

The creature does not detect as evil. Ahz then KD can look at the spoiler.

Cay draws her bowstring back a bit. "Perhpas we should try and reason with it," she suggests in a whipser (if it seems like she could do so without netraying their presence).

M orc Paladin / 1

"It seems Ahz wuz able tah talk with them las time."

Male Human Cleric3

Ahz puts on his best non-threatening posture and moves forward slowly. If he found any particular sounds that worked better for calming down Karrg, he will use those sounds, gently and quietly at first so as not to startle it. He will also try to determine if the other one is injured or dead if he can.

Linguistics check for the first action and heal check for the second, please

Male Human Cleric3

Linguistics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Heal: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

Well, I get a good look anyway. My grunting apparently needs work.

M orc Paladin / 1

Fubar maintains his position not moving forward or back, hopefully being non-threatening and close enough for back up should something happen....

Cay copies Fubar, trying not to giggle at the cleric's yeti immitation.

Azh:
The second yeti, a female from what you see is clearly frozen and dead. She bears numerous sword or axe wounds, which is odd as there aren't any swords you can see, except yours. The second yeti seems to be a male

Reacting to Azh attempt at communication, the yeti suddenly lifts his head, and his piercing eyes focus on the group.
He drops the body to the ground in his haste to stand and roars, arms held high above his head. The sounds reverberates on the stone walls, nearly deafening you.

Ahz, Will save, please

Male Human Cleric3

Will save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

I am...fairly willful.

Karrg...could use you if you're around..

I hold my hands down and back away slowly...

The beast gets ready to charge, but stops in his tracks as another voice is heard. Up on the surface, leaning over the edge, you see a smaller yeti talking quickly and gesturing madly in the party direction.

Sense motive every one, if you want to guess what's going on. You also have the option of attacking yourselves.

DC15:
The smaller yeti (Kaarg) is trying to calm down the bigger one and prevent him from attacking the party.

DC20:
The smaller yeti (Kaarg) is trying to calm down the bigger one and prevent him from attacking the party. It seems to indicate the party has not killed the second adult yeti.

DC25:
The smaller yeti (Kaarg) is trying to calm down the bigger one and prevent him from attacking the party. It seems to indicate the party has not killed the second adult yeti. He also singles two members of the party: Azh in a positive way and Fubar in a negative one.

Azh, you've got a second opportunity to convey your intentions. Please explain what you want to say and roll either linguistics or perform(acting) with a +4 bonus. The roll is for simulating how well you can pass your message.

Male Human Cleric3

sense motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

intentions - we are your friends, will help you hunt and fight, and help kill bad people who killed your mate
linguistics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

Well, I don't know if he's about to eat me, but I remembered some more grunts.

Caydee attempts to appear calm and non-threatening.

sense motive 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

M orc Paladin / 1

Sense motive
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Fubar notes the amount of death in this unforgiving place, humans, yeti, the bird men....

Maintain position and let the yeti speak to each other, seems to be going better than expected!

Male Human Cleric3

Not taking my eyes from the Yeti, I will calmly and quiet say Hold steady everyone - calm and no sudden moves

I will be gone this week for the funeral.

The big yeti lowers his arms and still seething with rage grunts back an answer. His ire seems to move from Ahz to focus on Fubar.

Ahz, you can understand most of what he says. For the other ones, sense motive or linguistic DC20.

Azh or DC20:
"They dead. You feed son but him kill son", the beast says, his small eyes leaving Ahz for Fubar

Male Human Cleric3

Trying to communicate - he not mean to kill son, was defending self, thought son trying to eat him, feels very bad, will try to make amends
linguistics check - 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 (and plus another 4 if I still have that)

(hope you dont mind me making promises for you Fubar)

M orc Paladin / 1

Fubar was also staggered at the time and not thinking very clearly

Azhateran Slug wrote:

Azh, you do not need anymore linguistics checks, yours is good enough for the whole scene.

The adult Yeti snorts at your answer only to be interrupted again by the smaller one. A heated exchange between both of them ensure and the tall one angst seems to be directed both at the young one and Fubar.

Eventually the exchange cease and the adult Yeti calms down. As if pondering his decision, the beast stays immobile for a moment, eyes unfocused. At last, he seems to reach a decision.

Azh or sense motive DC20:
You hurt people, but sons attack you. You bring back son body and look for son, teach him be tall and speak fur-less. Pact of blood.

The Yeti arm shots forward, arcs towards the whole party then moves backwards.

Azh or sense motive DC 5:
The yeti wants you to come to him.

M orc Paladin / 1

Fubar noticing the gesture, puts away his falchion and moves forward to the Yeti, hands out wide....

Using the earlier Perceptioin roll if that is OK....

Fubar wrote:

With you +4 in sense motive, you automatically succed at a DC 5, so it's good.

Male Human Cleric3

To the Yeti: I accept, and move to the Yeti. I also tell him my name, and ask for his and his son, and his dead sons. I let him know I am helping the others to understand him.

To the party: I quietly and calmly explain what the yeti wants to the others as I move forward. I also tell them that I am accepting his decision, and going to go on a bit of a side-quest as I feel an attachment to the young yeti, and I hope they will come with me.

Cay bites her lip in indecision, feeling uneasy about interacting so closely with the yetis. Slowly laying her bow in the ground, she follows Ahz's instructions. She meets the cleric's eyes and gives a small nod of agreement.

F Human Paladin of Asterius 1/ Boreal Sorceress 1

Vardara follows quietly. Her hammer is slung on her back but you feel she is ready to whip it out at the first sign of aggression.

The Yeti motions fubar forwards first, extending one of his hands as a cup, he draws a sharpened claw across his palm and pale red blood wells inside, slowly filling the cup.

His small black eyes rest a moment on each of you and you understand that he is asking for your blood to seal a pact.

Anyone willing to give blood can move forward and look at the next spoiler

blood pact:
As you cut your arm and your blood drops into the offered hand, you feel the cold generated by the Yeti. 1d6 cold damage for everyone, Asz 1d6 ⇒ 5, Fubar 1d6 ⇒ 4, KD 1d6 ⇒ 3, Vardara 1d6 ⇒ 3, Grashnak 1d6 ⇒ 4.
Closing his hand, the Yeti speaks two words and opening his hands, shows you two perfect ruby like stone. One is dropped in Fubar hand, while the other disappears in the beast enormous paw.
Every one offering his blood gains 300 XP

Male Human Cleric3

I move forward and spill my blood in with the yeti's. As the pact is finished, I will channel positive energy: healing all for 1d6 ⇒ 6. I will remain in place for as long as necessary to complete the ritual.

{ooc}Oh, speaking of XP...KD I know you're busy right now, when you get time, did you ever give xp from your time as DM?

M orc Paladin / 1

Fubar accepts the pact and moves forward hoping to gain some insight into this creature before him that obviously feels loss and has understanding.

Cay moves forward and accepts the pact, fascinated. She grins slightly at Ahz in thanks for the healing, then turns her gaze back to the yetis in front of her.

You each earned 100 XP from the worg.

F Human Paladin of Asterius 1/ Boreal Sorceress 1

Vardara joins the ritual as well with a quizzical expression. "I hope we're not doing something stupid, here. I've never heard of something like that."

Once all have shared blood with the Yeti, the beast takes a step back, lifts one claw towards the moon that is still visible in the sky and touches his forehead.

Sense Motive DC 15:
This must mean something like: "One moon, Remember"

Without a word , his task completed, the Yeti gently lifts the body on his shoulders. Grabbing a small protrusion in the vertical walls of the crevice, he deftly climbs the sheer surface and without a noise or a look back, disappears.

F Human Paladin of Asterius 1/ Boreal Sorceress 1

"That was an interesting encounter, wasn't it? Can anyone tell me what was all this about? i'm not completely sure what we are sworn to do and I do take that seriously."

"I agree with Vardara," Caydee says, looking pointedly at Ahz.

M orc Paladin / 1

"My oath was my own!"

Male Human Cleric3

Kargg and his brother were alone and starving, and attacked us out of hunger, we now believe. At the time, all we knew was that we were being attacked. In defending himself, Fubar killed Kargg's brother. Not out of malice, simply out of defending himself. We all felt bad for it, and have done our best to take care of Karrg a bit.

Ahz reflects a moment. As far as I could tell, we swore an oath to return the body of Kargg's brother to his father, and to train/raise Karrg and teach him to speak common. Or elven, etc, but I imagine common would be a good place to start. It seems to me our next steps are to work out a form of communication with Karrg and to seek his brothers body.

I start to look for a place to climb out of this crevice, and try to tell Karrg that in case he has any ideas. While doing this I mention I take this oath willingly because of the odd attachment I feel to Karrg. If any one else has other ideas about what the oath meant, or the best way to fulfill it, lets talk about it.

sense motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

And it looks like the moon witnessed the oath, and Ahz waves at the moon.

F Human Paladin of Asterius 1/ Boreal Sorceress 1

"I'm fine with that oath. Do you know where the body is and what is the best way to bring it back?"

Around you, the crevice has widened into a canyon, with high stone walls. Now the yeti has gone, you see a long trail of blood that ends up into a small pool, where the corpse was. It seems like it has been dragged or has dragged himself to die here.
The canyon goes on for a few hundred feet at least before another turn masks it.

Caydee closes her eyes for a moment in confusion. "Wait, wasn't the corpse we're supposed to be finding back where we originally fought 'Karg'?"

Having an Elan moment.

Caydee Brunland wrote:

Nope, the corpse I was referring to is that of the adult yeti that died here and was carried away by the adult yeti you just met. sorry about the confusion"

Corpse described here with the blood is the wife.

Corpse we need to find is the son, abck where we met Karrg.

Two dead yeti. Poor guy.

At least, I *think* that is the case?

Confusion cleared up, Caydee goes to kneel reverently besides the dead yeti. "What killed his mate, I wonder? Are we expected to bury her?"

He took that corpse with him :)

Ahz is right, there is no corpse left here.

What do you want to do now? Explore the canyon, go back to find the young Yeti corpse, find who or what killed the big one?

M orc Paladin / 1

"Is it jus me or are we going in circles?"

"Can we try tah teach Karrg some words on tha way?"

Male Human Cleric3

I propose we follow up the conditions of the oath immediately. That is, go to find the corpse of Karrg's brother, and begin his education on the way.

"Agreed."
