Question about the Glabrezu

I noticed in the Pathfinder bestiary that the Glabrezu disguises itself to tempt mortals, and possesses the Veil spell. However it has no ranks in the Disguise skill. Is this deliberate?

They only need to roll disguise to look like SPECIFIC people. Not to disguise as a generic being. So, there is no need for the skill. It's not like a glabrezu would be trained in that anyhow.

You must succeed on a Disguise check to duplicate the appearance of a specific individual.

He can just disguise himself as Generic Tempter #2365 and not have to roll the check. It's only when he wants to pretend to be someone the victim knows that he might have trouble pulling it off.

Veil does give the glabrezu a +10 bonus on his Disguise check. Combined with his Charisma bonus, this gives him a pretty respectable +15 bonus to the roll, which isn't insignificant. Of course, a glabrezu could certainly specialize as a tempter and max out his ranks in Disguise to make himself even more good at it if he wanted.

But that said, as others have mentioned above: if all the glabrezu is doing with veil is changing its appearance to look like a handsome dude or a beautiful woman and not trying to disguise himself as a specific person, he probably won't even need to roll a disguise check at all.

And even if someone sees through the disguise, he still has that wish power; that's a pretty strong way to tempt folks.

Yes, I know his spell/stats give him enough ranks and all that I just thought that being a tempter was his modus operandi he might have Disguise as a specified skill. But it doesn't matter, I just needed to know if it was deliberate or an omission. Thanks everyone.

He isn't an impersonator though. He auto suceeds when he tries to emulate generic people, there is no chance (aside from magic) for someone to spot it. So, he can be an astonishingly beautiful person without chance of getting caught, he just can't be the SAME as another astonishingly beautiful person.

Thanks it makes sense. Cheers. Mark
