How would you handle someone falling onto Caltrops, or more specificly being Tripped(Combat Maneuver) while in a square filled with Caltrops?
Are there any official rules for this scenario? If not, do any of you have House rules for it? I can think of plenty of ways to handle it, but I'd like some feedback on ways to handle it.

No rules that I know of to cover this exact situation.
Me, I don't think there is any way those caltrops should do more damage than being gappled by a guy in spiked armor. In fact, seems rather similar (your body smashed up against a relatively solid surface covered with spikes).
So I would say it's the same damage as spiked armor, but for kicks, it does the "small" damage (1d4) to small creatures and the medium damage (1d6) to medium creatures - I rationalize this by figuring a gnome or halfling tripped onto the caltrops doesn't land on as many as a humand would.
Clearly not RAW (is there RAW for this) but I think it works well enough for a Rule-Zero.
