Pathfinder Society Seeking New Rogue

Gamer Connection

Grand Lodge

The pathfinder society is seeking a new rogue, to aid in the exploration and discovery of artifacts of vast value and lasting importance.

We are looking for a new Pathfinder Society Character to help fill a slot in a rotating game here on the Paizo Boards. It is expected that the player chosen will eventually take their turn in GMing a module for the others in the rotation. I am set to GM the next module.

Currently, the party consists of:
Thovar Druskeden, a stout cleric of Abadar, (Qadira)
Olomorn Rubyax, bloodthirsty fighter, (Qadira)
Levistus, a Chelish sorcerer of Noble birth, (Taldor)
Tambric Delwain, a halfling summoner, (Andoran)
and Caelwyn, a foppish bard(thats me). (Taldor)

You may gaze upon our last adventure, and be astonished!

Applications will be closing on Friday. We are currently at level one, with most characters only having 1 mission (or 0) under their belt.

We think that a rogue might serve best in this brave company.

Thank you for your interest!

Jaken Doone at your service! A rogue, historian, and lover of lost things might be just the ticket! (Posting as character...can change stats etc. to fit the game!)

Let me know if I've got a shot!

Sure, looks perfect. But don't 'change your stats to fit the game.'

  • Have you read the guidetoPathfinderSocietyOrganizedPlay?
  • Have you created your character in accordance to the rules therein? (I suggest also creating a character in the Organized Play area and posting your stats there)
  • You'll need to choose your faction! (It looks like Cheliax... that's good! Its nice to have a variety!)
  • Are you willing to GM when it is your turn?
  • Which, if any, Modules have you played?
  • Do you have what it takes to stick it, when the goblin steals all of your gold and the golem steps on your favorite cat?
  • Will Jaken Doone last the test of time?
  • What is his favorite color?

If you can answer these questions six(and statement 1), this ad will be closed, and Jaken Doone formally inducted into the PFS!

Dark Archive

we i'd like to give it a shot....
yes i'v read the society guide and it in line with the rules and i'm from Cheliax, could take a shot at online dming havn't played before now thought am current play CoT in the real world... well i don't have a cat... my family hasn't since being kicked out of the power... i live 23 years on the hard road so hopefull could stay alive though this... favorite color.... black like that of a moonless night so that i can hide in shadows..

I'm currently running one PbP and playing in two others, so if Moulini would like the spot I will graciously remove myself from the running. I've got plenty of PbP action going on and don't want to bog down the action.

If Moulini doesn't look like they will work out, I'll keep my finger on the pulse of this thread.

Thanks! I'll be lurking...

Please consider this intrepid delver of the Taldor faction to join the crew. Pathfinder Society agents have been looking to recruit him for his delving skills and a plothook may be concocted through this angle.

Your sewer job inspired me to create this guy. He'll be a real hit with the ladies too. Hah!

I have followed the rules in the guide, although I need to double check the rules on traits.

It feels that Taldor Faction makes most sense for this character.

I am willing to GM - I plan to - however I need some time to learn the ropes...so not yet.

I have not posted my character in the play area yet...looking into that.

I am playing Legacy of Fire now. I played a mammoth Temple of Elemental Evil campaign long ago in a galaxy far far away.

Stinky Pete doesn't give a damn about cats, but he does treasure his gold as any self-respecting dwarf would. The soon-to-be-dead Golem is a minor concern.

The slimy dwarf will last the test of time. His player spends his work days on line. PbP Gaming comes easy.

Petr's favorite colour is gold, obviously.

Sovereign Court

The slinking dwarf is now a registered Pathfinder Society Character. If that helps.

Grand Lodge

Alright, Folks. It looks like this is going to be put to a vote with the rest of the group.

Anyone else sitting on the fence go ahead and throw your hat into the ring. Based on my guidelines in the OP, I'm going to say that those who haven't posted by 11:59 EST on Friday are ineligible.

Jaken Doone, based on the fact that others have expressed interest, I'm going to give you another chance. ;) Let me know if you still want to be considered.

To all those that want to be considered

  • Please select a faction. (A new or underrepresented faction is more likely to get you voted for, at least in my book, but fit your character as you see fit)
  • Ensure that your character is built by the PFS rules!
  • You must be willing to DM at some point (There has been a lot of interest in the DMing position lately, so this may not come up for some time.)
  • Let me know which, if any, Modules have you played. (I need to start that ball rolling. No penalty for noobs. Most of us were new to PFS before the last module.)
  • Good roleplaying is appreciated. Make sure you have a backstory/description/personality

Thank you!

Hello, I will be throwing a Rogue in the proverbial hat tonight. I am reading the guide at the moment and just got my organized play I.d. number.

I would be willing to D.M. but to be perfectly honest, it has never been my strong suit, I think the controlled environment of pbp, very well could aid in that, as far as modules, I have played, they are all on here for PF, I am a veteran D&D gamer that has been rolling dice since my eldest brother could get me to roll up a character, back in the day when dwarves and elves were a class. I will try to get rouge up that is worth choosing. May I ask what all factions are currently represented?(and never mind, I am looking at the symbols next to the names now.)

There is a quick reference of all the current characters in the OP ;)

Jaken is going to officially remove himself from the running. I don't want to overextend myself by playing in too many PbP's and running both a PbP game and a RL one.

Thanks for the shot, and I'm glad to see so many other scoundrels answering the call! Best of luck to you all, and happy gaming!

AAremeth-- Yeah, I looked at the thread last night and totally forgot about the opening post, I had a gnomish moment I suppose and then saw the (factions)but at that point of course my editing option was gone.

Anywho, this is My Osirion Elven rogue. this would be my first society game, so I haven't played any of the society modules, I am currently in the following pbp's though, return to falcon's hallow, kingmaker, arcadia land of opurtunity, treasure of Arainu,I'm also hoping to get into sleeping Tsar, and this game. I am also writing Xanthem's Tale, a free form pf Rp, my brother and I are working on.

SO while my plate is full, you can tell I like to go back for seconds and thirds where my rp is concerned.

I wish I could pick another faction to improve my chances, but I think Cheliax is to uptight for Petr.

I followed this group's adventures in the sewers. There were some great action sequences...and since more than one of you has played or will play as a DM - I have already learned alot about how to run the game just from reading your ooc posts. So thanks.

I know some of the characters themselves will not be too impressed by this malodorous rogue, but that will just make him more fun to play, right?

About myself: I used to play in my youth, but changes in my life put a halt to that for a long while. Last autumn I was clearing out the storage and found my old, food-stained AD&D DM's guide with all the notes scribbled in it. I was immediately hooked! I started to research ways to get back into the game and found the volume of 3.5 materials a little overwhelming. Besides I have nobody to play with where I live. Then I discovered the PFSRD, Paizo's publications and these PbP forums. Now I can actually play! And where I work I am constantly online. Checking and updating the messageboard is a piece of cake.

Ah well, good luck!

No worries, it was just a suggestion from me (not a group rule or anything). Perhaps your endearing aroma might win you some votes! ;)

Dark Archive

Marianna d'Bourdelay, at your service. I had a personality, description and background typed out but my session timed out and I lost it. Need to sleep now but I'll re-type it in the morning.

Just as a quick flavour for the character, Marianna likes to deal in information and in battle, sticks to flanking. She prefers to work in methods that involve as little combat as possible, it's difficult to play at nobility with scars.

Dark Archive

added back ground...

Sovereign Court

Made some small adjustments and corrections.

Dark Archive

I've updated her personality, description and background. I know that it might be a bit strange for the character sheet to be hosted off-site but I'm always fearful of missing something out, so having a sheet helps me get everything right. Or at least I hope it does.

It should be public to the world, so please let me know if you can't read it.

Thank you all for your interest. I will be submitting your characters to the rigors of the democratic process! Hopefully, I will have an answer for you by the end of next week(if not sooner).

Sorry for the delay, but Freedom is slow(she is like a granny!) and should be respected at all costs! Even your sanity. Thank you.

*checks the coinpurse for gold coins to buy cookies with*

What? No-one said we weren't allowed to try and sway the vote... they are looking for Rogues after all.

Oh yeah. I can see it just fine. :)

Bribing is 100% allowed(it is democracy after all), but it probably won't get you more than one vote(mine) and besides, virtual cookies taste like silicon. :p

Dark Archive

Hmm. You have me there!

Grand Lodge

Marianna. I just noticed you wrote down 'Lawful Evil' as your alignment.

You'll need to change that, as it would make you ineligible for PFS. Maybe LN with dastardly intentions?
(Honestly she sounds more Neutral(selfish) than Evil(cruel))
Also, shouldn't your attacks be +3?

Everyone else looks OK, but Moulini yours still says LG in the blurb.
Never seen such a bunch of Lawful Rogues in my life! 3/4!
Well, I guess it sorta fits for being a Pathfinder.

Dark Archive

And that is why I need to read guides a little closer. Thanks for pointing it out though!

Dark Archive

changed it to LN thought about changing it to CN.....
anyway added description will working on personality...

Cool, just let us know.

Grand Lodge

added Personality...

Sovereign Court

Originally conceived as a freedom loving sewer scavenger, Stinky Pete seemed unlikely to fit a role in the Cheliax faction.

I realize that this group is seeking members from a wide range of factions...and Cheliax is underepresented. I really want to play, so I am prepared to explore another angle for this character if it fits the needs of the group...in fact I think it even makes more sense for a dwarf.

Please consider the Cheliax option outlined in the Player Profile.

Grand Lodge

Stinky Petr wrote:

I've updated the others on this change, but faction notwithstanding, you've gotten a pretty good reception.

Votes are slow coming in... a bit more patience!
Due to a player injury, we won't be starting the next scenario until next Monday at the earliest(I think the 7th or the 10th is more realistic).

Sovereign Court

I eagerly anticipate the voting results. For the record, I am sure I would have a blast playing either faction...so whatever fits.
At first I thought the Cheliax Petr might be a little too grim and serious...but he's a Dwarf and that's what makes many of them them hilarious in the first place....and either way I think his demeanor would make for some entertaining contrast with some of the other characters in this party.

Thanks for passing on my update.

Grand Lodge

The votes are in!
Well, at least most of them.

With one vote outstanding, we have a majority decision.

Stinky Petr is our runner-up with one vote!
Marianna d'Bourdelay has been inducted into the Pathfinder Society by the majority vote, of three!

Stinky Petr:
Stinky Petr, promise I wasn't leading you on, you got quite the hemming and hawing out of me, and a vote from another member. As of my last post, you were neck & neck with Marianna. I'd appreciate it if you could stick around until Marianna accepts her new position, just in case she doesn't show. Thanks!

Most worthy aspirants all! Speaking for myself it was a hard decision, and I think that others felt that way too.

Marianna, as the victor of this rigorous democratic process, please post a formal acceptance in this thread, and then come join us over here, and introduce yourself!

Sovereign Court

Oh well.
I'll keep checking for the next few days...and maybe lurk in on the new adventure from time to time. That was good stuff in the last one. Thanks everyone.

Dark Archive

Apologies, I've done it backwards, but yes I do accept the position offered. Thanks!

Grand Lodge

Congratulations Marianna, well get started sooner or later. :p

Thanks Stinky Petr, be a pleasure to have you lurk around.

Thanks to all of you!

Scarab Sages

You guys have fun! Thanks for the chance to try, and if nothing else I know a heck ofa lot more about the pathfinder society.

Grand Lodge

Thanks Dakram.

You know, you guys could always create your own PFS group. Classes don't really matter (but having at least a rogue & cleric is nice)

Its easy to start and if you switch off DMing, you all get a chance to play/DM.

Just sayin'
