Question concerning the Locate Creature spell and runing water

Rules Questions

Heyhey

The Core Rulebook says that the spell Locate Creature cannot be blocked by anything except running water. Does running water only mean rivers? What about a sea? Can you sense the direction of someone aboard a ship?
Besides: Does anyone know a spell that would actually protect you against being sensed via this spell?

first, from spell description:

"It cannot detect objects. It can be fooled by mislead, nondetection, and polymorph spells."

a reasonable GM would likely permit anything that blocks divination (scrying) from also blocking locate object/creature. though some (like mage's private sanctum) are quite overt themselves (being a big opaque semi-circle).

i would say an ocean would equal a river in this case
