Question about Hold Person

Rules Questions

If someone has Hold Person cast on them and they fail their subsequent save, are the considered helpless as far as combat is concerned?

Thanks!

Thanks!

As long as hold person is in place the person is paralyzed (and thus helpless). They get a save each round but untill they succeed on one (or the spell ends) they are helpless.

Grand Lodge

You can't get any more helpless than Hold Person. So yeah all the nasty CDG becomes an option.

Cool, thanks much!!

Another question...

If a person is "held" and you strike that person, does he become free of the spell (if he survives the hit), or does he have to continue making saves afterwards to break free of the spell?

Ultradan

He continues making saves as normal to break free.

(Nothing in the spell or paralyzed condition descriptions suggest otherwise, so by default... )
