me and some friends were having a spirited debate on wizards, (dumbledore, elminster, raistlin, gandolf) when my best friend posed the question who would win in a fight, drizzt or vader. i couldn't even come up with a vote.
rules:
1 vader has access to the force.
2 magic weapons can block lightsabers
3 drizzt has all equipment except guen.
and...GO
C'mon. Seriously? Vader vs. Drizzt?
Game over, man. Game over.

Force Choke and Force lightning... verses melee buffoon? Gee that's a hard one.
Drizz't vs. Darth Maul would be a much closer fight.
The dark elf vs Lord Vader though? Vader mops the floor with Drizz't, keeps him alive to lure his friends in to rescue him, kills his friends horribly then turns Drizz't to the darkside and the two of them go on to overthrow the Emperor and Obould.
I find your lack of faith ... disturbing.
Firstly Drizzt's doesn't have that much going for him.
Secondly Vader isn't a "sorcerer/fighter/EK" He's a master of the dark side of the force. We are not doing equivalency simply a straight up jaw-jacker.
...which brings me to the bennie .... can a magic sword block a lightsaber? That's what I want to know.

Han Solo would cap Driz'zt leaving a smoking hole in his chest, flip the bartender an astral diamond to clean up the smoking drow drippings, and Chewbacca would stick a branch in his panther's mouth then break it's back.

Drizzt vs. Vader. Cmon please. Vader, off the TIE Fighter, nothing but net. He chokes m____f___ers with his MIND. Also he rides around in a Star Destroyer.
Drizzt vs. circa Ep. II Anakin would be a much closer and more appropriate matchup. Evil-turned-good vs. good-turning-evil... they could have a wangst-off.

Vader, off the TIE Fighter,
This brings up an important factor to consider.
If any opponent can somehow get Vader to board his TIE fighter, all one has to do is graze it with a rock, or perhaps a handful of dirt, and he's going to be sent careening off into the black provided a convenient asteroid isn't in the way.

I don't even know anymore. Before I would say if Drizzt's SR worked against Force Attacks then he might be immune to a lot of stuff and it come down to a melee brawl. Vader always seemed more saber than force anyway unlike Emperor Kuzco (wrong movie?)
However Drizzt is consistently written inconsistently. He soloed a marilith. Then he has a hard time against a few orcs. I remember picking up a Thousand Orcs and thinking "Drizzt fights a thousand orcs? HELL YES!" Even the cover was awesome how many he was fighting off! It was heroic! It was epic! It was ... misleading >_>
At least Vader is consistent in being a weenie so I'll give it to him.

It's okay. Their music insults our intelligence and good taste.
Going to have to go with Drizzt on this one. Not because I like him, or that I think he's actually more powerful, but because Drizzt has plot armor. Nothing trumps plot armor. If the author has it in his mind that his character can't be beat, well then he can't. Vader already has quite the track record for getting his ass kicked, firstly by his old teacher, and secondly by his son who beat him with the jedi equivalent of Tai Chi (see: old man kung fu).

So, what is Drizzt supposed to do when Vader chokes him from halfway across the galaxy (Captain Needa, Empire Strikes Back)?
Drizzt doesn't stand a chance. Even if Drizzt makes his save, Vader can try again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next...
Vader Vs. Sauron would be a better fight.

It's what my friends and I used all the time to justify the Ultramarines in Warhammer 40k. Not sure where it came from to be honest.
