A failed kidnapping attempt (funny)

My venerable sorceress witch was hired to kidnap the local princess (a young lass of about 14 winters).

Via gaseous form, I was easily able to slip into her room at pre-dawn.

I cast deep slumber upon the sleeping princess to ensure her cooperation. I then draped an air tight bag over most of her body. Now that she was "willing" I cast gaseous form on her and blew her the rest of the way into the bag. Using a bit of twine I sealed the bag with the airy princess inside (causing it to float like a balloon as she slumbered lazily).

Since I could not leave the same way while keeping the princess traped in her balloon, I cast disguise self in order to take on the appearance of the princess.

I then walked out the front door of the bedroom.

The castle was much large than I initially realized and I got lost. When stopped by guards I either pretended to be sleep walking, or mentioned to them a sore throat which gave me cause for wanting to get outside for some fresh air (which explained away my old lady's rasp while getting the guards to point me to the way out).

Unfortunately, I did not make it out of the castle in time, and the princess woke up while in her balloon. Even worse, I was being escorted to the outside gardens by a guard (who, up to that point, suspected my balloon as being nothing more than an exotic toy).

Well, the true princess used her fly speed to move the balloon about, causing the twin trailing from my hand to wrap around my neck and begin to strangle me.

The guard fearing for his "princess" drew his sword and cut away the twine and balloon fabric, thereby freeing the real princess. The real princess then screamed such horrible words as "kidnapper, "impostor," "witch," and "guards!"

The guard grabbed me, which allowed him to recognize the disguise as an illusion. A moment later I had more guards restraining me while trying to find a way to return the princess to normal.

Luckily, a hardy breeze began and I seized the opportunity to escape via a stilled gaseous form spell.

Hey this is some story, brightened up my night. Thanks for sharing!

Ah, I love it when elaborate plans fall to pieces...^_^

Though, really, with the pathetic movement speed of Gaseous Form I fail to see how the twine would get around your neck. Did you fumble a Dexterity check or something?

Well, try to imagine what'd happen if the princes was taken by the wind over the castle walls while still sleeping in her bag and then suddenly the spell stoped working. That's what I'd call epic fail :D

Didn't have to. Princess got a surprise round on me and attacked (she had total concealment inside the bag and I didn't exactly train in Perception). Furthermore, I only have a 6 Dexterity, so I don't need a fumble. Any check at all is bound to fail.

Funny story!

I ran into something of a problem trying to set up a Witch encounter, when using Sleep at the initial ambush stage.

The spell Sleep (and thus Deep Slumber) specifically says that it doesn't work on unconscious targets. I couldn't find any info anywhere in the game regarding "being asleep", so to avoid the question entirely, I waited until the character was "laying down to sleep" so it'd be natural that they'd fall asleep... just that they wouldn't wake up from loud noises (and thus aiding in the ambush).

The unconscious description seems to only mention dying and non-lethal damage, so it's possible my concerns were unwarranted.

Witches are fun to play though, aren't they?

I had totally missed that! Thanks for pointing it out.

Yes, they really are. Mind you, I'm playing an arcane bloodline sorcerer with a witch theme, not the witch class. :P

Yeah.. I'm not sure it matters what class you play. Playing the idea of a witch is fun... a twist from my usual "moustache twisting evil", heh.
