This is posted on the GenCon event's list. What is it?
The full description is:
"(Levels 1-11) When a famous Pathfinder returns to the Grand Lodge in Absalom with a long sought after Azlanti artifact of power, the Society celebrates the achievement by throwing a massive party in Absalom's arena. When the artifact is stolen during the party, it's up to you and the other bands of Pathfinders to get it back before it can be used to destroy the Grand Lodge--or worse."
So is this a LARP or will it be small, normal PFS groups?
Thanks!

They're interactive events. If I remember my facts correctly, two years ago it was a group of Drow meeting (all the players were played members of the meeting). Last year it was an "adventure" where players tromped all around Gen Con talking to various people for clues. GMs walked the characters (playing their PFS characters).
It's not quite a LARP, but it's more "interactive" than a regular scenario.

This event is what we're calling a "Special" from now on. It's a single scenario played by multiple tables at the same time. There is one room GM and GMs at each table adjudicating combat. I wouldn't call it a "battle interactive" as there is also roleplay. It's simply a scenario on a very large scale with anyone from level 1 to level 11 able to play in it.
And yes, this Special officially launches the story arc for the next season, though astute observers above have already notice that we hint at the arc in the June scenarios (and also in Erik's soon-to-be-released Tier 12 scenario).

Specials are counted as normal scenarios and reward a chronicle sheet.
Are there any plans to have specials at locales other than Gencon or Paizocon? I just added up the cost to attend both of those conventions this weekend and realized that attending either of those is WAY out of my price range (mostly because of the distance).

Right now the plan is to release one special each year that is not sold on paizo.com and can be requested by conventions. That way it can run wherever it needs to each season. Once the special has been out for a year, it will go up for sale to be used anywhere.
The next season special officially kicks off at Gen Con, but we're running a playtest of it at Paizo Con.

This event sounds awesome, as do the rest of the new scenarios. It's cool to see descriptions of some of the ones we've only heard titles for thus far. I'm really looking forward to the Kaer Maga series. Who's writing the four at GenCon and what are the last two scenarios from Season 1?

I think you can find the July scenarios listed under Season 1 in the scenario sales area. If not, they are titled "The Infernal Vault" (Tier 1-7) and The Jester's Fraud (Tier 5-9).
The Gen Con four are written by (in order): Crystal Frasier, me, Jason Bulmahn, and Larry Wilhelm.
Season 2 will differ from Season 1 just like Season 1 differed from Season 0.
Are you serious about the GM credit question? If so, I shall send ninjas.

How does a convention get access to this scenario? And will it be available to any convention from its release date until the next Gen Con in 2011?
Just curious. This sounds like a great event to promote for conventions! And since I coordinate two locally, I would be seriously interested in having this available for our fall local convention, Brewfest (since it will be released too late for our upcoming Cape Comic Con).

Would Gen Con 2009's Special be a good indicator of how this event will run? or are there changes?

Wait, so are the interactives from the last two years available for everyone already, or is this just the plan, to make them available at some point? I'd love to pick them up, even if I never run them, just to add to my Knowledge (Golarion). I checked in Season 0 and Season 1 and didn't see anything for purchase except the regular numbered scenarios.

Joshua J. Frost wrote:4-to-5 hours. Normal single slot event.Hmm, interesting. And how many players would it need?
I haven't really decided yet, but I think the minimum is likely to be three tables. So 3 table GMs, 1 room GM, and a minimum of 4 players per table.
I won't make a full decision on that until I have it back and I'm developing it.

No, and they won't be. They were never laid out or edited.
This one will be.
Got it. Going forward, future ones eventually will be. Thanks.

Could work for Saturday evening at PaizoCon UK then...
