Pizaro Wizard

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

A friend has wanted to play Pathfinder since I bought the book last month. Listen to what he came up with (briefly): Elf, Wizard, High Str, 20 Int, Endurance, Prestidigitation, Acid Splash, HEAVY CROSSBOW--(!!!)--1d10??? What??? He didn't even take a breath! Good Show, Zoron!

O...kay?

While I wait for this to make sense (;-P), I'll just make fun of that character and tell him to elf it already. Strong elf wizards have no business with crossbows, they're supposed to get composite longbows.

You must not know what a Pizaro is, and that is forgivable. But who says strong elves are "supposed to" get composite longbows? Being a Pizaro (roughly meaning the equivalent of Tunnel Rat) would not be possible with a longbow. I have it in my head that anyone can take any skill, he took Sleight of Hand. Being an Elf Wizard with a Heavy Crossbow already had me on my toes so I let him run with it. He ruthlessly killed a goblin, all by himself.

I want to know more about these "pizaro", and my google-fu is not strong enough, care to explain?

Forgivable, I learned about pizaros (try pizzaro, pizzarro and pizarro) watch a special on real dungeons. I think it was a series based on investigating urban legends of gates into hell. The Pizaros were employed in mediterannean cities to rid sewers of the homeless and the dead during the rennisseance. You can quote me and I would nnot be ashamed to be wrong, it was a very interesting series of special investigations into worship of the dead, ancient catacombs, and place where one can outright enter hell or the underworld.

A stronger, harder form of a bizarro? Is that why that's a strong elf with Endurance and a crossbow?

I know there is a Bizarro KaeYoss around. He dresses in drab, formal clothes and advocates absolute order with a noted lack of ardour!

The elves who will make fun of him do.

He is an elf, meaning he can already use bows, which are superior to crossbows unless you're quite weak. As a strong character, he can make use of his strength by getting a good composite bow. The crossbow will not let him make use of his strength, and all the tedious reloading will mean he'll spend more time getting the thing ready to fire than actually firing it.

What kind of elf is this? A true elf can fire a longbow even while lying prone in a dense shrubbery. They can also wield curve blades in corridors that are just wide enough to accommodate a curve blade that is held completely vertical (meaning they can use those swords even in corridors they themselves don't fit in - they do that with their elf magic). And if they are in a situation where their curve blades won't work, they can stab you to death with their knife ears.

I've seen newborn halflings do that. No big deal. It's a goblin, after all. You can only be more pathetic than one of these if you're a kobold.

Kobolds - ha! "Dragon's scions" my donkey. More like a dragon's placenta that is so nasty Pharasma wouldn't touch it with a regulation 10-foot-pole.

<-- Not a kobold hater. Or goblin hater.

KaeYoss, You are certainly most wise of these things (except the part about crossbows being invented for weaklings), will you bear my children?

I could'nt find any relevant info on pizzaros or pizarros other than Francisco Pizarro the spanish conquistador.

But I think I found the origin of the mysterious word though; your definition made me think of the spanish word "pocero" which literally means someone who builds or works(usually cleaning) in wells or sewers.

I don't know? Are they that unbearable that you have to ask?
