Hey guys I've started to delve into magic item creation (no not real magic items, lol) and I'm struggling with the Estimating Magic Item Gold Piece Values table.
Here are the stats for a magical ring I want to place in the adventure I just want to make sure the rules and costs are correct.
Ring of Whispers
Aura faint transmutation; CL 1st
Slot ring; Price 1,000 gp; Weight —
DESCRIPTION
A smooth band that shimmers like a rainbow, this ring appears to be carved from a large pearl. It allows the wearer to cast message at will.
CONSTRUCTION
Requirements Forge Ring, message; Cost 500 gp
If any of the rules experts can tell me if its ok that would be great.
I'm open to any suggestions as well. Note this item is going into a 1st level adventure.
Thanks in advance

Going by the estimating price guide, I'd say it's around 900gp.
You'd probably want to go with Command Word instead of Use-Activated or Continuous... since the person probably wants to have normal conversations while wearing the ring.
If you do go with Continuous instead (they put it on to whisper the conversation, etc), then it'd be around 1,350gp.
The reason is because the spell has a duration of 10 min/lvl, which increases the cost of a continuous item by 1.5x.
Having to say a Command word can be problematic if it's meant to be used for clandestine missions (command words must be said out loud in a normal tone, etc), so the continuous item cost might be preferable.

Thanks Kaisoku,
I wanted the ring to work as if the message spell was cast by a 1st level caster so the user can only have 1 target affected by the message for 10 mins at a time. I want to limit it so that it only works once every 10 minutes if need be so the wearer cannot use it on another target until the duration has expired.
I guess that's what was confusing me regarding the Base Price.
