Warriors of Andoran Musings

One of the things that left me with questions after reading Andoran: Spirit of Freedom is what a bulk of the Eagle Knights were class-wise and what is the typical equipment of an Eagle Knight and what. I imagine many are just rank and file warriors, but I have to wonder how many are rangers, fighters and paladins and judging by the art it looks like no armor (but a uniform) and a a bastard sword.

I would assume that the pictures of Eagle Knights with bastard swords aren't rangers as it doesn't really seem to be thier fighting style, though Pathfinder Society indicates that Andoran certainly produces quite a few.

Given that Andorian society seams a little advanced, I would assume that typical gear for a Fighter or Paladin might more or less be breast plate and bastard sword with rangers in a similar situations but swapping out for lighter weapons and/or bows/crossbows.

Another question that seams to nag me is the art work that depicts the warriors in Andoran: Spirit of Freedom. Are they wearing a naval uniform, or just a over all military uniform. If naval, it sort of makes sense that in putting on armor while shipboard is risky.

So what do others think?

Hello any one out there?

You sir, have hit upon one of my very few pet peeves. The lack of armor makes no sense in a PF universe. Quite simply, any army of comparable size that fields armored infantry or heavy cavalry is going to kick the Andoran's backsides.

This was discussed at some length in the thread discussing the Andoran guidebook. The only plausible scenario floated was they were naval uniforms.

Yea I had that feeling as well. Without having muskets it sort of seems odd.

I would assume that breast plate and Bastard sword was the norm. Maybe with crossbow as well.

Perhaps:

1) Dress Uniform

2) Single Character?

aka "parade armor," as it's called in Adventurer's Armory.

Well that has my interest peaked. I was already looking forward to that for the alchemy. Now I have this too.

Is the standard method of dress described in the book as well?

Clarify, please?

Sorry, what I was trying to say. Is there any mention of Eagle Knights standard dress. (i'm guessing not.)

Parade Dress implies armor for ceremony. I'm more or less wondering about armor for hazardous missions. If this is coming out in Adventure's Armory, the there is no need to go into detail, I'll wait. And the NPC guide sort of gives you the idea from the picture that the Rangers watch the boarders near Cheliax may use breast plate. (thought that might be "parade armor")

I have to admit I just think that the country of Andoran is cool. I'm trying to get a clear picture of it in my head.

Adventurer's Armory has game stats for "parade armor" and uses the formal EK parade armor as an example. The armor also has a non-combat game mechanic....

Adventurer's Armory doesn't describe what the typical soldier of every country wears (it's not really the right book for it, and we had to cut stuff out of this book to make the remainder fit, so...), but most active soldiers in any country probably have some kind of medium armor, depending on the climate.

Thanks Sean!

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but has anything been said about the andoran military rank system?
And are Eagle Knights(EK) always superiors to regular troops? (such as a EK Captain can give order to a Regular Captain)
