Which AP should I run?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I'm going to be starting my first Adventure Path Game in a week or two and I`m having trouble deciding which one to run. What do you guys think?

I'm not interested in Legacy of Fire. Not that it doesn't look good, I just don't really feel it clicking with me.

My top two choices are either CotCT or CoT, mostly because I'd like a mostly urban campaign.

That said RotRL looks like... well like the classic D&D game.

Second Darkness also looks really good but I have another campaign going where the main bad guy is planned to be Drow (though I could change that)

So what do you think? Which one should we play? what should I avoid? anything I should tweak? (As example I've heard some people say CotCT should never have left Korvosa, or to skip Skarwall)

thanks for the help guys.

It all really depends on your players ond your own preferences.

I have made a lot of conversions available for RotRL in that part of the messageboard and there is therefore less work involved if you plan to run it with PRPG.

I have hear CotCR is realy good.

However, my next campaign will probably be Kingmaker or Council of Thieves.

My group is really enjoying the Council of Thieves. It's our first Adventure Path, so I can't comment on how the others are though.

The fact that it is fully PFRPG could be a bonus if you're crunched for time.

Liberty's Edge

I have just finished one game of Curse of the Crimson Throne and am running it for another group. That first group just started Rise of the Runelords. I heartily endorse CotCT. I have not been charmed by CoT. Really though, they are all quality products and well written. They each have their own flaws though and of course they are different stories. My suggestion is to poke around in the boards on each AP and see what is going on in there. All kinds of suggested fixes or enhancements can be had and great advice to.

Despite the fact that it is only 4/6 urban, CotCT is widely considered to be one of the best APs.

I haven't had the time to digest CoT yet, but I'm rather disappointed by the lack of a dedicated book on Westcrown (as opposed to the CotCT, which has an excellent book about the city of Korvosa).

That alone makes CotCT a good choice. Having some good background resources is very important.

If you have the River Kingdoms, Kingmaker might also be interesting.
