Gamer Connection

Thinking of maybe running something and would like to find some new blood and maybe some new friends. Would be a once a month or so offering in Kingmaker Adventure Path. Looking to see who would be interested and try to find people of a mindset and personality that would go well with my friends and myself. I mean, hours at a game table you want people there that make the experience fun.

Looking for players/people of any experience level from teens to 50 who want to roleplay. I'd narrow specifics based on who responds.

Peace.

That's about 1/2 hour away from me. I'm going to look into the Kingmaker AP, if I have the time, I may be up to it but we have been trying to get a local PFS regular meeting going down here in RI. Can't do too much, you know.

Edit: This is where we are playing. You have to register through the website and I think they don't mind if you do. Green Dragon Tavern

I'd be interested as long as it's somewhere I can get via the T. I live north of the city, and don't have a car.

Sounds interesting. Still have space?

Send an e-mail to rvalentinekraus at yahoo.

Hey Fellwalker. rkraus and I are friends, so you will have at least two players that are comfortable with each other and we are both interested. Are you still planning on doing this?

Also, FB message sent/

Sczarni

Are you looking at weekend or mid-week? If you're looking midweek, I work in Westwood at least once a week, and that day can be changed (live an hour away)

It would be an approximately once a month Friday or Saturday game. I have to talk with the family regarding hosting as my sister is expecting twin boys imminately which is why I wouldn't start until late May.

How long were you planning on playing each session?

Well if run on a weekend night/evening I've usually played from around 5 to 11pm, I could be up for more sessions but it depends on available venues. I might be able to get one night a month at my house out of my family but any more would be pushing it. Other available comfortable convenient venues are certainly possible

I don't mind hosting from Providence every once in a while, but I doubt those in the northern Boston area would like that very much.

And I guess while we are at the Q & A stage:

What is allowed for character builds? Pathfinder Core only or any Pathfinder material once run by you first? Or the whole host of 3.5 splat? If put to a vote I would vote Pathfinder material only, but if outvoted I won't mind using splat stuff at all.

How are stats done; rolling or stat buy?

I'd like to keep it pathfinder core with PF material considered if discussed first.

When it comes to generating I'd like to know what people think. I usually have gone with the 4d6, three best, reroll 1s once two sets maximum but I'd like to know what people think of the point buy system.

I also use the racial bonus hit point system from the beta:
10hp - dwarves, half-orcs
8hp - humans, half-elves, gnomes
6hp - halflings, elves

I'm still not sure about the location, but I much prefer point-buy systems. I have terrible luck and always end up with mediocre stats no matter which die-rolling system is used.

I like the point buy system, although my luck is usually pretty good on die rolls. I just like the consistency and how it makes sure that all the PC's are balanced.
I think the Pathfinder stuff is written to assume a 20 pt buy.

I don't remember the racial hp bonus' from the beta rules. Are those extra hp given at 1st level?

Works for me. I'm happy to take my chances with rolling, but it people would prefer to use point-buy, I don't care. It usually comes out the same anyway.

Is it safe to assume we'll need 'outside' characters like cavaliers and druids?

Aaaand, can I call dibs on inquisitor?

Are character traits allowed?

Aaaaand IIII wanted to play the inquisitor! J/K, I would like to play a "scout" character; basically an archery and stealth focused fighter/rogue but I would need a certain character trait to get him a decent knowledge (nature).

Okay...
Traits: I have used two traits in other games. One from the core traits/area traits in the PDF and supplements and a trait from the A.Path players guide.

Rolling: I like the point buy option but I've always used the die system...I don't think great characters are always about lucky rolling.....but it DOES help.

I'll tell you, as a GM I've never really cared about party construction. If everyone wants to play a party of wizards then do so. It would be harder but it's more important to have fun and play what you want without someone being forced to fill a skill gap. It IS an outside game so naturally outside focused archetypes fit best.

How rules lawyer-y are people. I have some house rules but I'm flexible. I use the Critical Fumble/Hit cards for instance. It looks like this is definately coming together so during April vacation I'll post some specifics on the game and schedule a meeting for May. Then we can figure out location, time, players, etc.

Oh. Some of you have already on Facebook, but if you wish to know more about me and/or want to keep in touch easier than through a forum here's my email:

Okay. Let's get something started.
Date/Place/Players...
- Friday 21st of May, Friday or saturday the 4th or 5th of june
- location's a problem, I can't host here right now can someone host?
- players are Rkraus2 and krazee, possibly a friend of mine. What about Cpt_kirstov and fanguad? A group of 2-6 would be great.

People's input: I have played with a house rule that there is a difference between spells and scrolls. That one cannot learn a spell from a scroll, it's essentially a sigil of power that holds the spell while spells are pages of text, diagrams, notations, ingredient lists, etc that outline the spell for the caster. This allows more scrolls as treasure while not overstuffing wizard's spellbook.

Thoughts?

I'm in if the location is workable. The dates are good (although I prefer Saturdays). And I have no issue with that houserule.

How close is workable? We have a T stop by our house, but it is in Providence. If the game goes on down here, is the distance a problem? I could pick you up at the stop, and Fellwalker says he can carpool.

Also, what type of character are you planning on playing? rkraus is going with an Inquisitor, and I am working up a scout-type archer as I type (I don't want to play a ranger, so I am trying to figure out a multiclass build that works for stealth and archery). But I am also sort of excited about an aldori dueling sword wielding fighter.

As far as the house rule, I think it makes much more sense than the way it is set up in the rules.

Providence is probably out, unless I carpool (I could get picked up anywhere on the T), and I don't really have a character preference.

Don't feel constrained by me - I posted my interest thinking that the gamers might be coming from Norwood and north, but it looks like people are coming from Norwood and south.

The commuter rail gets off in Providence, but I understand that would be a helluva ride from north Boston. I don't mind picking you up from there at all though it looks like last train leaves at 9:42PM which sucks. Have you talked to John (fellwalker)?
