I'm curious what this says about me....

I have no mother to spare. I was grown in a vat.

I didn't know the Pentagon was running a clone breeding operation. How is that going?

No, the people of Somalia are living in "interesting times." The people of North Korea are living in "interesting times." The people in Nazi Germany and Stalinist Russia and the Black Plague epidemics were living in "interesting times." Anyone posting on this board has had it better than 99.99% of the people who ever lived on this planet, even if they are posting from a crack house.

I'm beginning to think that guy in the Matrix was right. I can't remember the details of his little speech, but basically what he said to Neo was that we humans are hardwired for pain and suffering and angst. Put us in paradise and we just can't handle it.

"People elsewhere have it worse, so just suck it up." -- That's your answer?! Also, Godwin? :)

As someone who wrestles with depression (and has it running through my mom's side of the family), maybe I am reading a bit much into Ortho's post. But depression is an insidious and tenacious disease; I'd rather recommend someone go in for a check-up and get a "You're fine," than tell them to ignore it until things get too serious. There should be no stigma in admitting that one suffers from depression (or whatever).

It going swell! Just glad I wasn't part of Batch #56. They keep needing lung transplants.

{makes mental note to be careful around TOZ in case he was cloned from Jango Cheney}

I have to say that this exchange disturbed far more than the original post. ;)

And part of me wonders, would that really be so bad? Maybe limiting things to a smaller scale is... again... what we need even if it isn't what we want.

+1, and with an ass-kicking alias ta-boot. Well played.

To be perfectly honest, I'm starting to think I'd be happier if everything suddenly went to pieces. Sure, there'd be no more internet, no more video games, no more MP3s, no more movies, no more books... and truth be told I'm fine by that. Maybe getting rid of those avenues will put some of the endless arguments to death.

Let it go. Let it all collapse. Let it BURN. Good bloody gorram riddance.
Maybe that's what we need. Maybe that's exactly what we should do.
Just break it down.
Tear it all down.
Break it apart.
Burn it all.
Leave NOTHING behind.

Then what? I dunno. Start from scratch I guess. The human race, I'm thinking, needs to be thrown back into the dark ages for a while. Maybe we have it good - too good.

Congratulations, you've tapped into the psyche of about half the BBEGs in action, fantasy and science fiction for the last century or more. Do you have any minions? A death ray? Disintegration gun, cloning tanks, book of vile darkness? It's not too late to get started. Robes or a lab coat are a good start, and a deformed lackey is absolutely essential. Check craigslist. Someone's gotta be looking for a Master.

"It's such a beautiful world!"
"Then why are you trying to destroy it!?"
"SOMEbody has to!"

(I think that was from The Asphyx, but I'm not sure.)

They're also an excellent death metal band from the Netherlands, too. \m/

Life After People

Not quite the same as a reset, but I've been enjoying the show none-the-less.

I love this show so much. I can't tell you how often I begin sentences with "You know, in a life after people..."

Sounds good to me. Although, then I would have trouble getting brainnnnnnsssss....

In my opinion there is absolutely nothing wrong with the desire to see the end of the world. I know I long for it. The very basis of human society is the reason that everything is so bad.

We need a reset, badly. We need to start over. The "unhealthy" thing is to not plan on how to change things when we do see the end of the world as we know it. Instead of living a life of competition, of "us" and "them," of "mine," we need to start building alternatives, forms of community and human relations that aren't based on competition.

I'd suggest looking into anarchist philosophy and organizations. Food Not Bombs is the best example out there of what I'm talking about. I'd also suggest Crimethinc Ex-Worker's Collective and their book, Days of War, Nights of Love.

Aim to tear it all down, please. Join me in the destruction of this world, because only by destroying this world can we birth another.

Sorry, just another Red-Anarch, DIY totalitarian dream. No different than the guys running the show right now, maybe different hair styles - still "get in line, or be thrown on pile" mentality.

Pass, don't want to trade one collective for another...everything goes.

Believe what you will. As you die fighting everyone and everything because it isn't you, we'll be creating lives of absolute freedom.

If you really think it's a "get in line or be thrown on the pile" ideology, you're sorely mistaken.

Freedom from your bodies maybe.

If you think the vegan, red anarch, SCUM, anti-war crowd has any internal survivability then the joke is really going to be on you.

I just cannot accept this false utopia, and if was possible and in my power I would make sure it never existed on earth. Just more nonsense for despots to control the "collective". Been there, done that.

This I do have to agree with.

Wait, are you guys auditioning to play Max Rockatansky or the Joker?
