Dodge Bonus not included in Bestiary Stats

Rules Questions

Is it a typo or am I unaware of a rules issue but certain monsters in the Bestiary have the feat dodge, but it seems to not be in their AC in the stat block. Two examples being "Azata, Ghaele" on pg 25 & "Demon, Nabasu" on pg 64. Can anyone clarify this for me? Thank you.

Assumption: The 3.5 dodge bonus is not always on. It only applies against certain creatures. As an example let's say a monster has an AC of 26, and it has the dodge feat. Against most of the party it has an AC of 26, but if it chooses the fighter as the target of the dodge feat then the fighter has to hit an AC of 27.

In short it's an error, because it was probably forgotten that the pathfinder version of Dodge is always on.

I think in the beta it was a swift action to get the bonus. Likely that change got missed in the bestiary..

Do not forget in Pathfinder Dodge is a universal bonus. You do not select a single opponent it is a flat +1 versus all opponents.

I stated in my last sentence that it is always on. :)

The problem is that in the bestiary it is not counted as always on, which led to my assumption they forget the 3.5 version no longer applies.

Yes but it is not reflected in its AC stat block, so it's a typo / mistake? If so it seems like the pdf this would have been updated at this point to be fixed if that were the case.

Below are my two examples (both creatures have the Dodge Feat).

Azata, Ghaele
AC 27, touch 15, flat-footed 26 (+4 deflection, +1 Dex, +12 natural)

Demon, Nabasu
AC 21, touch 13, flat-footed 18 (+3 Dex, +8 natural)

You already got your answer. The assumption is that the people that wrote the monsters forgot that the Pathfinder Dodge feat is always on because it didn't used to be (in 3.5/3.0).

It's a mistake.

Not always....

A condition that makes you lose your Dex bonus to AC also makes you lose the benefits of this feat.

If say you're a rogue that's attacking from concealment or when the creature is flatfooted etc.... the Dodge feat would not apply.
