Liberty's Edge

With the great sale I am considering getting Year 0. Tghat said, before i do, I am wondering what exactly I am getting.

How many pages?

New monsters/prestige classes/spells/magic items?

And has there ever been talk of binding all of these together into a dead tree form?

Thanks for your insights.

Liberty's Edge

Looking back at some of the Year 0 mods I have: they run about 16 pages total. They use 3.5 rules (Year 1 changed over to PF rules).

I don't believe you will find anything 'new'. They are all short adventures designed specifically to run within a 4-hour session. You will also find much of the content revolves around the faction-missions which are a main part of the PFS play.

I would guess Paizo will not bind them together in book form since the market for such a product would be very small (considering most PFS members buy scenarios as they come out in order to keep current with the community).

Hope this helps.

There is also this to remember from an update to the PFS:

Retiring Scenarios

Over the next several years the 3.5 scenarios from Season 0 will either be retired or converted to Pathfinder RPG (time permitting). We will always give a one-month warning of an impending retirement meaning you have four weeks to purchase, play, and report that scenario as official play. Once the scenario is retired, though, it is no longer legal for play, will no longer be purchasable, and will be removed entirely from the reporting system meaning you can no longer legally apply it to your character.

So if you are buying them just to use them and are not part of the PFS, then you would not know about this. I think the thread said that scenarios 10 and 15 are the ones being retired at the end of this month, so you may want to start with them if you do not already have them.

If you want to get a sense of our current goals, looking at the scenarios we're discontinuing may not be the best place to start. You might want to consider starting with some of the recent ones, and the older ones that have the highest reviews.

(And that update you quoted is a bit out of date. You will be able to *purchase* retired scenarios, but you won't be able to report them for official play.)

To be clear, the ability to purchase will come with several warnings that the scenario you are about to purchase is retired and cannot be played for credit or reported on and the product listing for retired scenarios will very clearly, likely in big bold letters, say the same thing.

That way we can prevent anyone from making the mistake of purchasing a scenario for official play that has been retired.
