Arcane armor training feat

Can a 3rd level cleric/1st level wizard satisfy the preq for the 3rd level caster req in arcane armor training feat?

I believe its implyed that the character be arcane 3rd level.

Seems to me like the intent was 3rd level arcane casting but as written it's pretty open to interpretation.

Rules are not intended to be outsmarted.
You already know how the requirement was meant to be, don´t think about outsmarting it.

But if you want to play a cleric who is connected to arcane magic and got one level of wizard because of that, your DM might think of just allowing you to cast in armor. (if you took the level of wizard to qualify for a prestige class, it would be a gaming decision, not a style decision - in this case the DM should not allow it - rules are ignored only for style and story, never for gaming)

I don't want to outsmart this feat, but it seems reasonable that a Cleric who has been casting for a few levels could have made the effort to do it more smoothly while wearing armor. Especially since a Cleric is proficient in armor, so it doesn't feel like a stretch to say that a character who is comfortable in armor can learn to move in it better as time goes on. And that effort is displayed in the taking of this feat. Whereas, most Clerics probably don't bother to make the effort since arcane spell failure does not affect their Cleric spells.

Also, taking multiple divine levels to help out your lower arcane level doesn't seem particularly imbalanced...but maybe I'm missing something?

Yes, you can. There is no requirement that they be arcane caster levels.
