Is it antidisestablishmentarianism?

normanak wrote:
So, we have two clerics, Garion and Daryan, two arcane casters, Sabine and Zeldin, two rogues, Nik and Shuriken and two fighters, Alexian and Samant. Correct? That makes for an easy 2-way split, anyway.

Not too big of a difference, but Samant is a barbarian...a classy one but a barbarian none-the-less.

But yea the four way split can be balanced. Oh the serendipity of it all...

supercalafragalisticexpialadoshus...

crap I forgot to warn you all to get your helmets on.

Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2

Yur right the split seems pretty easy ...
Again I m gonna be MISS SELFISH here and ask that if we do that can those in my group PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE be the ones that can post during the week more, ideally afternoon! (montreal time)

So for the arcane guy that would make me prefer Zeldin (no offense Sabine but so far Zeldin was more online at the same time as me)

for the clerics and fighters i m not sure, wuld need to go back and check ...

Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2

I say that and with my luck I ll probably end up getting a weekday afternoon gig for a month and end up screwing everyone s schedule!

Cuz I gotta be honest: with my line of work u NEVER know!

Liberty's Edge

I agree with Nik that posting pace/time would be the logical way to split things. It seemed to me that Nik and I were on at the same time and so was Alexian, but darn it I like Samant! I am not sure about clerics either, but they are starting to have a fun interaction and splitting them would take some of the fun out.

I am able to post during the day in EST (I think the same time zone as Nik) I think Calix is in the UK, but aside from that I am not even sure where we are all located (not that that is critically important). Oh and Flash says he is from somewhere were he assumes none of us are... so that cuts a few places out.

I do get that it is hard to manage such a large group but I wish there was some way that we could all stay together. Aside from group size posting rate/availability is the other thing holding us back. I can post from work and want to go "faster" while I can imagine that poor flash is feeling rather rushed. He has commented a couple times about us prolific posters. Generally who likes the pace, and who wishes it was faster or slower? I am up for a bit more speed.

The one thing we do seem to agree on is role playing mopping and guard duty seems like a drag. I am all for hitting highlights, or moving straight to graduation (assuming we all do).

I ve been asked by Wicked Games to test some of their new templates (you can fill them on your computer). I asked the company if it was OK that I also share them with the guys in my group. They said yes.

so anyone that will be in my group will get those 4 free if you want(its totally OK if you dont want to of course! NO big deal!). the only thing if u say yes is:
- please keep them for you only
- you have to do a lil honest review about the templates (like, dont like, what works, what doesnt, etc)

like I say me i m for splitting up the group cuz i really LOVE when things move along!

How do I "join you group". I would love to give the templates a run.

Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2

ZELDIN: what I meant by "joining my group", I meant those who will be in my half of the split. Of course I could always ask the guys at Wicked Games if they dont mind more people testing their stuff, but i m sure we all get that they wuldnt want too many peple having tehir stuff for free out there (I know how THAT goes been an internet model! you give someone anything 4 free: it ends up posted and pirated all over creation! giggle)

BTW i TOTALLY agree with all you just said in yur last post! :-)

Liberty's Edge

One other thing... Is there a benefit to sharing email addresses?

Calix has mine. Calix, please feel free to share it with anyone in the group that wants it.

Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2

About the warriors and clerics thing. for me its realli weird cuz in BOTH cases its pretty similar:

one is more a obvious fit for NIK: Alexian cuz he s the prince in shining armor type (i know! Disney and Barbie brainwashed us all when we were young girls! giggle), Garion cuz he s a Priest of the Goddess NIK follows (Desna).

but the other side i also like very much cuz its very different and I kinda like the unlikely match idea! Samant cuz he s a scholar barbarian (cool idea btw! talk about original!) and Daryan is like soooooooooooo the opposite of NIK it culd be FUN 2 see how they wuld get along!

aaaaaaaannnnnyyyyyywayyyyyyyyyy ... wats my point here? do i have one? giggle

Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2

Calix has my email too. Calix feel free 2 share it too! :-)

If u spy my first avatar yul find it there also! :-)

Well we don't have to be locked together permanently, so we can always mix it up chapter by chapter, so that way everyone kind of gets to interact together. Also Calix mentioned that every now and then we'd get together as a larger group, which would be very nice. Lastly, depending on the nature of our assignments, it might be good to have two types of classes depending on the quest/mission/thing. I like the possibilities that it would provide.

Male Human Barbarian 1 (favoured)

Yeah I don't care how the groups go. I'm here to have fun either way.

Jenny already has my e-mail. I'll test for them sure.

In some instances, having two rogues could definitely be a good thing, or two clerics when fighting undead. It depends on what the situation calls for. All the characters seem to be interesting, and so exactly how the party gets initially split doesn't matter to me. I'd even be fine with flipping a coin to decide things. If the time-zone thing matters, I tend to post weekdays mid-afternoon and evening, Texas time. (Sure, it's technically "central time," but Texas is the one that matters)

I'd be up for testing out and reviewing the templates too. I can even promise not to share them with other people.

Calix, it's good to hear you're not totally without internet this weekend. Perhaps you should invest in a laptop and an internet deal from a 3G/4G provider for times when wi-fi isn't available. I believe some of you may have my email already, but if not:

mah e-mail!:

Female Tian Rogue

I'd rather gloss over the training and move on to the final part. i live in the california time zone and don't have a job due to particular disabilities, one of which, is my really high functioning Aspergers Syndrome. i could go either way with the splitting.

Female Tian Rogue

How much XP do we get from the training? whether or not we skip it?

Sovereign Court

You don't need to worry too much about a "balanced" party, I won't be running you through pre-written adventures, so I can avoid putting you up against things you can't handle or run away from... of course, if the mission brief is to explore a trap laden tomb and you send both rogues out with the other group, that's your own fault.

The training in itself won't be giving any XP—you get experience for exciting things like adventuring, not polishing the silver and going to class—but I will be giving you a bonus campaign trait based on your time as an initiate. You'll also be getting XP for completing the tests once Sabine has finished the obstacle course.

If each of you want to send me an email my username[at]hotmail[dot]com mentioning that you'd like me to share your address with the others, it'll make it easier for me to do so without accidentally giving out someone's email who doesn't want me to.

do you have a list of these campaign traits, probably something free to access? i was thinking of more like a 1 time free ability increase during the training. i beleive that it is equivalent to a trait. i planned on raising charisma a point. signifying emotional recovery, a reducing of the impact of her shyness, less mental fatigue, being more willing to open up, and even learning basic social skills. this would hint at a charisma increase and would be best represented as such. i believe that increasing a dump stat is worth a trait.

Liberty's Edge

According to his profile, flash lives in Australia so his schedule is probably pretty much directly opposite most of us. I live in Connecticut and can post from work during the day very easily.

Sovereign Court

Shuriken: Traits are about the equivalent of half a feat, usually a +1 bonus to two different skills, or a +1 bonus to one type of save. An increase to an ability score is roughly equivalent to +1/2 to a whole bunch of skills, and +1/2 to Save DCs, attack rolls, AC and/or a saving throw. But if you'd like I can write a trait that represents your recovery by giving a bonus to social skills.

I'm writing the traits myself, I've not finalised them yet, but this is what I've got so far:

campaign traits:
Student of the Chronicles: During your training, you spent much of your spare time pouring over every volume of the Pathfinder Chronicles you could get your hands on, as a result you have gained insight into the many and varying activities undertaken by the agents of the Pathfinder Society. You gain a +1 trait bonus to any one Knowledge skill, and a +2 trait bonus to any Knowledge check relating to other Pathfinders, you may make such checks untrained.

Scholar of Past Glories: You have devoted your studies towards one of the ancient empires of Golarion. Choose one dead empire, you gain a +2 trait bonus to Knowledge(history) and Linguistic checks in relation to that empire.

Notice of the Decemvirate: For good or ill, you have drawn the attention of the mysterious leaders of the Pathfinder Society. You have never met them directly (to your knowledge), but their intermediaries have made it clear that you have great expectations to live up to. You gain a +1 trait bonus to Diplomacy and Intimidate checks when dealing with other Pathfinders.

Pathfinder Archivist: You have spent countless hours documenting the strange and unusual objects recovered by Pathfinders, this has given you a unique understanding of relics and antiquities. You gain a +1 trait bonus to Appraise checks and to Knowledge(history) and Spellcraft checks made to identify items.

Mithridatic Regimen: During your training you have been exposed to small doses of many of the toxins that Pathfinders often encounter in the field, this has allowed you to build up an impressive resistance against a wide range of poisons. You gain a +2 trait bonus on all saving throws against poison.

Delinquent: You took every opportunity during your time as an initiate to shirk off your work and pursue your own ends, this took a fast tongue and a knack for staying out of sight. You gain a +1 trait bonus to Stealth and Bluff checks, one of these is always a class skill for you.

Guardian’s Bane: You have received specialist training on how to effectively combat one of common types of guardian often found in the ruins and tombs explored by Pathfinders. You gain a +1 trait bonus to damage rolls against either constructs, undead or oozes (chosen when you select this trait).

Adril’s Favourite: The famed venture-captain has taken a shine to you. You are not alone in his affection, Adril Hestram is known for his tendency to take initiates under his wing, but his attentions have granted you the valuable field experience gained from accompanying him on some of his less dangerous expeditions into the siege towers around the Isle of Kortos. You gain a +1 trait bonus on all saving throws against traps.

Lost Tradition: You have been exposed to the obscure magical treatises of countless long-dead spellcasters, some of them proved meaningless to you, but others have revealed deep secrets you have learned to exploit. Choose one spell from the cleric, druid or wizard spell list, you may treat this spell as though it were on the spell list of one other class at a level one higher than it appears on the cleric, druid or wizard spell list.

Sovereign Court

Shuriken: How does this trait look for you:

First Steps Towards Recovery: Your time amongst friends has allowed you to put some of the demons from your past behind you. You gain a +2 trait bonus to Diplomacy checks while you are in the company of your friends. (For the purposes of this trait, this refers to the other characters.)

OK I'm sooo sorry again for my absence.
Work has slowed down, Air Con is fixed at work and I am back to feeling a bit more like myself.
I'm going to spend tonight catching up on my PbPs I've neglected this past week and be ready to get back into the swing of things.

Scarab Sages RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32

Yep, I live in Australia and the last week has been temps like it's the middle of summer. What a time for the Air Con to die for a week, especially with me doing 10hr days... :/

Just so you guys know, Sabine is primarily a Rogue. Her Sorcerer Levels are there to back up her Rogue abilities with some Arcane Power.

Calix:
I like the look of that Lost Tradition Trait. :)

Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2

Not sure I understand this thing about Traits.
I dont find it anywhere in the rules book! Am I looking wrong?
Or is it a special rule kinda like the traits you asked us to pick from when we started?

Yeah Traits aren't in the Core Rulebook. Look up the top of your "My Downloads" section and there will be a link to the Character Traits document.

Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2

ThanX flash! :-)
So it is like those traits we picked when we started right?
Do we ge many of those traits or juts one more?
When we started we got to pick 2 if I remember well right?
so that would make it 3 total?
How does it work?

Yep just like those Traits. I'm not sure how Calix is gonna work his new Campaign Traits, whether he'll want us to replace one of our existing ones or choose a new one. I am still trying to catch up on the 300 Posts in the Game Thread since I posted last! :)

Sovereign Court

Yep, you'll get to choose one of those traits as a bonus to give you a total of three. Or, if any of you had a particular idea about something that might happen while you're an initiate, I can come up with a trait to represent that, like I did for Shuriken.

Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2

Well I kinda like the Delinquent trait!
I can sooo see NIK trying to get away with not doing too many school-like stuff during her Pathfinder training (kinda like wat i did in school! giggle)! :-)

Male Human Barbarian 1 (favoured)

Do trait bonuses stack?

Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2

GOOD question Samant cuz if they do my delinquent and charming traits wuld kinda clash for the Bluff bonus!

Sorry but trait bonuses do not stack

Now I have a dot, he he

Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2

ThanX Eric! :-)

Female Tian Rogue

i am going to attempt to Necro the IC thread? i'm pretty sure a little ooc post ought to help.

Sovereign Court

Currently I'm just waiting for Sabine to catch up so we can move on... feel free to carry on with the RP though.

Is there any decision (preliminarily at least,) on the split for the two groups yet?

i have necroed the thread, the new post is the description of my ooc ritual. i could go either way with the splitting. i am going to need you to supply the material components next time.

Daryan will find the Wayfinders incredibly interesting, especially the part where they interact with Ioun stones, since he's been around Ioun stones his entire life. That's the aspect of the Pathfinders that he finds most intriguing. I can't quite think of how a useful trait could be derived from that, however.

I declare Daryan to be part of group 1. Now the rest of you post what group you want to be in. I have no idea what the difference is.

Liberty's Edge

If Daryan goes Team 1, Garion, the other cleric, will go Team 2 for the first split, anyway.

Female Tian Rogue

i think i will join team 1 along with daryan. i would like to have sabine and alexian as well. but i can afford to be flexible.

Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2

if Shuri goes on team 1, I ll be the rogue on team 2

Liberty's Edge

I guess that leaves spots on team 2. I will join team 2! :)

Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2

For Team 2 we still need a warrior right?
so Samant or Alexian any takers to join us on Team 2? :-)

Male Human Barbarian 1 (favoured)

I'll step up for team 2 since Shuriken wants Alexian. lol

Female Human (from the North- Ulfen) Rogue 2

Great! So I guess Team 2 is all ready 2 go! :-)
(says an eager 2 play Nik! giggle)

Scarab Sages RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32

I guess that makes me on Team 1 then...

Just remember, Sabine's not really much of an Arcane Caster, but more Rogue.

I have almost caught up, it's just taking me longer than I thought... :/

Sounds good to me, I'm up for whatever :)

Sovereign Court

So we've got:

Team 1
Daryan
Shuriken
Alexian
Sabine

Team 2
Garion
Nik
Samant
Zeldin

I've expanded the trait list a little:

Campaign Traits:
Student of the Chronicles: During your training, you spent much of your spare time pouring over every volume of the Pathfinder Chronicles you could get your hands on, as a result you have gained insight into the many and varying activities undertaken by the agents of the Pathfinder Society. Submarine Acclimatisation: In order to prepare you for expeditions into sunken ruins, you have spent hours in submersion chambers within the depths of the Grand Lodge. You gain a +2 trait bonus to Constitution checks to hold your breath, and Swim is considered a class skill for you.

Illicit Contact: Despite rules to the contrary, you maintained regular contact with the outside world, either to maintain a supply of some comfort that you miss, or to remain in contact with an old friend. This has left you alert for hidden drop points, and given you plenty of practice concealing small items. You gain a +1 trait bonus to Sleight of Hand checks, and to Perception checks to notice hidden items.

Resonant Soul: Your long hours examining the way in which the auras if ioun stones resonate with wayfinders has subtly altered your own aura, ioun stones are more likely to resonate with a wayfinder bonded to you. The chances of an ioun stone you have crafted yourself resonating with your own wayfinder increases by a percentage equal to your charisma score, the chance of any other ioun stone resonating with your wayfinder, or an ioun stone you crafted resonating with any other wayfinder, increases by half this much.
