I am pretty new to PBP, but I want to give dming in this format a try. Before I take on an AP. I thought I would run a smaller scale campaign using hollows last hope & curse of the kobald king. I will allow play test classes. I will take six characters. 25pt buy. use the die roller here on site. please submit concepts to johns.anglin(at)yahoo(dot)com.
no need to write up full characters before final selection will take all submissions into account not first come first serve. post rate once a day min. I look forward to getting a group together and giving this thing a try.

Sounds like fun! I've never played PbP before, so this sounds like a great foot-in-the-door for me as well. How long are you going to accept concepts before you decide on the group and move forward?

hmmm, still no submission that is weird. you are sending it to
johns.anglin(at)yahoo(dot)com
right?
have you received any failure to deliver notices? If the email address is what you have been entering then I guess you can post your concept in a profile format if you wish.
Nuthin' they just sail off into the electronic ether. Pretty funky...
My email is in my profile, feel free to try sending me a 'hi' and I'll see if I can reply to your email.

Just to let everyone know When I get your submission I will send you a reply back that I have received it. I will also post here when I am no longer accepting subs. Right now I plan on cutting it off Sunday night before I crash, and posting the final group on Monday afternoon. So far I only have a couple of submissions so I might extend the deadline if I don't get the slots filled. I guess i should have put recruiting for a pbp in the title. Live and learn I guess :D. All that being said I will be going to my bros for our poker night so if you submit tonight I will respond when I get back late this evening. Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Mine too. We just needed to send concepts, right? How about starting wealth? Any guidance?
OK, I just caught that one post answering my first question. Looks like the group could use arcane support.
Just concepts, full starting gold, 25 pt buy, 2 traits, from the sounds of it.
And arcane support would definitely be welcome. If my Summoner gets in, he's gonna have all of grease and magic fang for spells...

OK, I will get my equipment done tonight, assuming I get a spot.
I did notice that with Hand of the Apprentice, I may not need to use a crossbow. I usually do this with a wizard, and I gave him rapid reload as a result. However, I can't think of any other feat that can replace it. I may just stick with my original plan.
Also, I am in Iraq, and do not have the APB. I might go ahead and order it, but it may not get here for a month. How important are traits? Is there any that really stand out for a Universalist caster that someone would be kind of enough to tell me about?

APG isn't out for any of us yet, but if you go to My Account at the top of the page, you'll see 'My Downloads,' and from that page you'll be able to download the completely free Pathfinder Character Traits Web Enhancement.
Also, a bunch of other free stuff, but that's the one that has most of the Traits in it.
You can find more Traits in the various Player's Guides (Legacy of Fire, Council of Thieves, etc. all free downloads, although you may want to pop them on your some sort of zip-drive / keyfob, if you have such a device, if you don't have exclusive access to your computer).
Magic Traits in the main PDF above include;
Classically Schooled - +1 Spellcraft checks, always a class skill.
Dangerously Curious - +1 Use Magic Device checks, always a class skill.
Focused Mind - +2 to concentration checks.
Gifted Adept - pick one spell, always cast it at +1 caster level.
Hedge Magician - whenever you craft a magic item, reduce cost by 5%.
Magical Knack - pick one spellcasting class, you are treated as +2 caster level, but never more than your character level (best for multiclassers, obviously!).
Magical Lineage - pick one spell, whenever you apply one or more metamagic feats to that spell, treat it's level as one lower to determine final adjusted level.
Magical Talent - choose one 0-level spell, you can cast it once / day as a spell like ability at your highest caster level (or CL 1, whichever is better).
Mathematical Prodigy - +1 Knowledge (arcana) and +1 Knowledge (engineering) and one of these skills is always a class skill.
Skeptic - +2 saves vs. illusions.
Each of the Companions (except Osirion) have Traits as well, and the Wayfinders (also free downloads!) also have some Traits (although they are non-official, and you'll want to run them by our GM!).
My choices for a Universalist Wizard? Well, you can only have one Magic Trait, and it depends.
Favorite Combat Trait - Reactionary (+2 Inititiative)
Favorite Social Traits - Rich Parents (+900 gp starting cash, what the hell were they thinking? Might not be allowed!), Charming (hawt, +1 bonus to Bluff / Diplomacy on someone who might find you attractive, +1 to the DC of your language-dependent spells on someone who might find you attractive), Adopted (raised by another race, can take a normally race-specific Trait)
Favorite Faith Trait - Sacred Touch (stabilize someone at negative hit points via touch as a standard action, as often as desired)
Favorite Magic Trait - depends, if you plan on using a ton of one spell (such as a magic-missile-specialist), Magical Lineage could become important, but if you plan on multi-classing, Magical Knack could be vital.
Other random Traits I like;
from Qadira - Regional (Qadira) / Genie-Caller - Once per day, cast one conjuration spell as if +2 CL for determining duration.
from the Organized Play rules - Regional (Cheliax) / Master of Pentacles - exactly the same as Genie-Caller.
from Cheliax - Combat / Threatening Defender - when you use Combat Expertise, reduce the number you subtract from your attack rolls by 1 (I love using Combat Expertise for wizards who won't be requiring melee attacks, such as ray specialists or blasters or save or die monkeys or summoners), Magic / Diabolical Dabbler - +1 hit point / die for any fiendish creature you summon
Dwarves of Golarion - Magic (dwarf, or Adopted, only) / Deep Guardian - any creature you summon with the earth subtype or a burrow speed gets a +1 morale bonus to attacks and a +1 AC, Strength of the Land - +1 caster level checks for dispel magic / spell resistance as long as you are touching the ground or unworked stone.
Pretty much any skill you want for your character, there's a Trait that gives you that skill as a class skill and a +1 trait bonus to the use of that skill. If you want a minor bump to two skills, there are several traits that give a +1 to two skills. If you want a minor bump to a saving throw, there are multiple Traits that give +1 to a specific save (Fort, Ref, Will) or a +2 to saves vs. a specific thing, like poison, disease or environmental this or that.
Basically, figure out what sort of magic you plan on throwing around, and you can probably find (or kitbash) a Trait for it. If you plan on summoning, there are three or four different options. If you want to focus on one spell (metamagicked to hell and back magic missiles, or scorching rays) there's a feat for that. If you want to focus on pattern spells, there's a feat in Wayfinder 2 for that (Shoanti fetish of colorful feathers that gives +1 DC to pattern spells). If you like language-dependent charm / suggestion spells, Attractive could be helpful, etc.

That was incredible Set! Thank you! I had considered Combat Expertise instead of Rapid Reload, and even if Thosys doesn't like Cheliax, he was trained there.
I consider Thosys a utility caster, so he was going to make scrolls and wands. Hedge Wizard would be helpful there.
We have a private internet service available, but I'm having problems with it. I can attempt a work around with MWR and my kindle, sometimes. I don't know, I'll figure something out.
Thanks again.
