Bardic Performance, Irresistible Dance

Rules Questions

Surprised I have never seen this asked before!

If a bard gets hit with Irresistible Dance, but has ranks in Perform: Dance, can he still use his bardic performance ability to give boosts to his allies?

RAW? I don't think so simply because the spell states so.

I think the intention is that you can't do the other actions needed to inspire your friends (what those actions are, I don't know). I could certainly see the argument to house-rule it though.

Oh come now, the party is already used to the bard doing nothing but dancing in combat already, they should get the bonus...

"Oh hey look the bard is dancing again, we should be inspired or something right?"

No, bardic performance is an action, so you definately cannot start a performance, and I am pretty sure you cannot maintain a performance.
