What exactly / is / a deadly wound?

Rules Questions

So, the Heal skill provides some special handling around things called "Deadly Wounds"; however, I can find no mention at all in the rest of the rulebook as to what exactly constitutes a Deadly Wound. What makes a wound "Deadly", exactly?

Thanks!

As far as I know, "Treat Deadly Wounds" just means curing hit point damage (as opposed to caltrop damage or poison or whatever).

Scarab Sages

The treat deadly wounds use of Heal is simply a mundane (non-magical) way to regain some hit points without needing a night's rest. Calling 'em "deadly" wounds is a way to qualify that they aren't the same as the minor, annoying wounds that don't inflict hit point damage but that can also be treated with the Heal skill.

Though "deadly" is really a misnomer in D&D when you suffer absolutely no penalties or pain until you drop unconscious or dead. As the old poster says...

HIT POINTS

Any more than none and I'm ready for action.

Whichever wound drops 'em.
