I would rather play a awesome game by myself for 30 hours than only ten with a friend.
The short storyline is why i'm waiting to get it used for only 20 bucks than spend 60 for it new.

I've been playing for about two hours every night since last Friday and I'm nowhere near finished. If you race through each level, then it may be a short game, but if you take your time, collect, explore--well, I don't know how long, but I'm at 17 hours as of tonight. Then again, I'm at 97 hours with Fallout 3, so I may not meet the standard model.

It's pretty fun, but I do get a strong sense of deja-vu since it cleaves so close to the first game. Right down to a guy with an accent coming on your radio urging you to kill the little sisters. I feel like it's a longer game if you're trying to be a good guy and rescue all the little sisters while gathering up as much adam as possible.

Played it through on Hard doing it without Vita-Chambers. Was pretty tough till somewhere around the halfway point, when something clicked on, and suddenly the game became easy to trivial (by the end).
I really really really enjoyed the gameplay, to be honest, I focused on Plasmids (there was a great tonic for people that like that sort of thing) and felt like a mage by the end of the game. The voice acting was done well, I enjoyed the story (which of course relied heavily on finding all the diaries to truly enjoy), and all in all it was a pretty immersive experience.
That said, the story was short, wasn't as epic as the first one, and multiplayer is kind of lacking. This one is definitely a Renter, or wait till bargain bin prices, unfortunately. I can see myself playing through it one more time, but it will probably be a speed run just to see what happens if I make different decisions.

I spoke with a friend who said he finished it in a day; in an afternoon, actually. I've played him in Halo before and he wipes me out almost immediately--I've actually had to ask him to go easy on me just so I can have a little fun.
I mean to say, Bioshock is short if you are a very capable gamer or you have a nice chunk of time to throw at it. If you're like me and you use Xbox Live to get free demos and occasionally play your close friends but never, ever, never would you dream of n00b!ng out against the pwn!ng 14-26 age set...well, then you might be playing Bioshock for a couple weeks and more, on easy mode.

I beat it in about about 14 hours, getting all but like 2 or 3 single player achievements and also doing some multiplayer for achievements. It was a fun game, But I beat the original in a weekend so I knew it was a renter. I really like the world of Rapture, but I think people are right when they say the two storys are two closely related. What bothered me was

The thing that I thought was kind of crappy is that you do not unlock the final bits of your power until near the very end of the game. This means that you don't get much opportunity to use them.
I'd like the ability to re-explore Rapture as I go instead of being locked in the map for each chapter. Sometimes this can't happen because of plotting, but after I achieve whatever requirement is necessary to progress (as in finding a ticket card to open the depot gate), I'd like the option to back the train up. Also, this game encourages you to finish it as quickly as possible--there's always someone yelling at you to hurry up, which is never necessary (not even when the place is flooding). Last complaint: the frackin' Psycho suspense track that plays constantly at a couple spots. I literally had to go into the settings and mute the music so I could continue to enjoy the other awesome sounds in the game.

Yeah that would have been real nice. I mean you don't know some enemies you'll never encounter again until you leave the level. So if you didn't do enough research, no achievement for you.
